This isn’t a defense of Allie Beth Stuckey, she doesn’t need my defense; she can handle herself. And I’d say we agree on maybe 15% of matters in life and politics. But I find it fascinating, though not surprising, that every few months ultra-patriarchal Christian men decide to broadcast — often in the most deranged and inaccurate ways — that she is their enemy. And now, in an era of increasing political violence, they openly tweet about wanting to confront her husband in person. If you’re very conservative and also dedicated to leading more people to Christ, Allie is a dream: a very conservative woman rallying young women to take an unapologetic stand on social and cultural issues, to be unyielding on these matters, and to dedicate themselves to the worship of Jesus Christ. She pushes women to get married, to have lots of kids, to fight back against liberalization. She has been startlingly effective, to the point where, when Democrats ask me whom they should follow to understand where things are headed with conservatives on social and cultural issues, I almost always suggest Allie. As many know, I have a very ideologically diverse following, and I have lost count of how many young women have told me they became more socially and politically conservative, more dedicated to Christ, and more unwavering in their commitment to Him thanks to Allie. These men say they’re contending for the truth, but in reality, it’s treachery in the ranks: covert sabotage waged in the name of Christ. Their work is a victory for liberals.
