At a time when partisanship and special-interest influence slow progress, my Direct Democracy Amendment would give American voters the power to pass or repeal federal laws when Congress fails to act on issues with broad public support.
If Congress refuses to meet basic needs of Americans or enact proposals with 70, 80, 90 percent support, we should give voters a chance to force action.
