🖤 Lee Byung-hun on Brain Art | ONEWAVE 2026
“The first time I encountered brain art was through artist Hodu’s project — anyone can take writing or a picture and, through their own brainwaves, turn it into art. I found that fascinating, so I decided to take part.
Using brainwaves, even someone who isn’t an artist can create this kind of art. Because everyone’s brainwaves are different, everyone can make work that reflects their own individuality. Even the same person gets different results depending on whether they’re happy, angry, or sad.
Professionals might laugh, but in elementary school teachers thought I had calligraphy talent and I entered a few contests. It’s been ages since I held a brush, so it didn’t turn out as I’d hoped — but it’s still my handwriting. I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of artwork might come from it through my brainwaves. That’s why I chose calligraphy to test my brainwaves.”

On this day | 5 years ago — Lee Byung-hun & Lee Jung-jae at the 2021 LACMA Art+Film Gala
On November 6, 2021 (local time), the Squid Game team walked the red carpet at the LACMA 2021 Art+Film Gala at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
Per Digital Times (Nov 8, 2021) and Ilgan Sports (Nov 7, 2021), Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo, director Hwang Dong-hyuk, Siren Pictures’ Kim Ji-yeon, and Lee Byung-hun posed together against the LACMA × GUCCI × ART+FILM backdrop.
Ilgan Sports noted Lee Jung-jae’s white tuxedo jacket cutting through a sea of black, while Lee Byung-hun leaned into a soft-charisma oversized ribbon bowtie. Park Hae-soo went tieless; Hwang chose a geometric patterned inner layer.
Marie Claire Korea (Nov 9, 2021) wrote that Squid Game fever was so loud the cast soaked up the flashes at a gala co-chaired with Leonardo DiCaprio among its hosts, and that Lee Byung-hun — who had a special appearance in the series — was also in the U.S. on a personal schedule, in a sharp suit a world away from the green tracksuit.
Earlier, Star Today / Maeil Business and Sports Chosun (Oct 25, 2021) reported both agencies confirming the pair were invited by the organizers, had attended before (including 2019), and that the 10th-anniversary gala would honor Steven Spielberg and artists Amy Sherald and Kehinde Wiley, with Gucci among the sponsors.
The pairing moment fans still love: Front Man and Gi-hun sharing a Hollywood art-and-film carpet at the peak of the Squid Game wave — plus those Incheon Airport two-shots before the U.S. promo trip.
Five years on, the photos still hit. 🖤
