30 Rock Strikes Again
A modern-day police procedural take on ‘THE GREAT GATSBY’ is in the works at NBC. The series follows Jay Gatsby, a charming investigator with a gift for reading human behavior, and Nicole “Nicky” Carraway, a cop with dreams of becoming a writer. (Source: Deadline)

Every year there is (god forgive me for calling it this) BODMAS/PEDMAS discourse on here and I don’t know how many times it has to happen before people get it through their heads that these problems evolve out of deliberately-confusing use of mathematical syntax

If you’re writing equations in a way that cannot be interpreted universally by whoever reads it, that’s on you I’m afraid.

Reminds me of one of my favourite bits from Garth Marenghi’s Terrortome
Rewatched Halloween last night. While watching it I could only think about this Mystery Grove gem.

Sky News reports that a 28-year-old Palestinian woman, six months pregnant and suffering severe internal bleeding, was being transported from Qaryout in the occupied West Bank to Rafidia Surgical Hospital in Nablus when Israeli soldiers stopped her ambulance at the Awarta checkpoint. Video shows Israeli forces detained the ambulance crew for more than 30 minutes, subjected the bleeding, critically ill woman to a physical search, and ordered the driver to turn off the engine, cutting power to the vehicle’s onboard medical equipment. During the forced delay, a nurse was forced to deliver the fetus stillborn inside the stranded ambulance. The woman was eventually allowed to proceed to the hospital, where doctors performed emergency surgery and saved her life. The baby could not be saved.
Sky's @sparkomat reports from the West Bank on the impact of the escalating violence and the challenges of delivering urgent care under an increased Israeli military presence. 🔗trib.al/ofTAveO

My biggest bugbear of this whole hatanvirus thing is how people online – even the ones who want us to listen to public health officials! – are very content making their own minds up about what’s happening, or what to do, or what will happen without giving much mind to the experts

Hopefully I won’t end up with egg on my face here, and I know the mismanagement of COVID has left a lot of people spooked, but that’s because we didn’t listen to the experts. Social media users are not experts!

And, for all the people that are doing their own “research”, there are epidemiologists with years of experience in the field and boatloads of knowledge doing the same. It’s complex, and if we don’t trust the experts, who are we left to trust?

You know, I wouldn’t be surprised if those Artemis II astronauts just, like, decide to stay up there
