The way Pokemon Unite is shutting down reeks similarly to the drop of support for Pokken. Pokemon branching out to a different eSport before cutting it when it doesn't immediately pop off. Support matters a lot, and I feel the wrong lesson is being learned by Pokemon. RIP Unite.

The priority is of course to make money, but the way they tried to do so neglected the fans, alienating other people from wanting to get involved with the game. They didn't support the fans as much as they should have, because I assume it simply didn't seem worth it to them.

With a brand like Pokemon, they would want to try to hang on as long as possible. But that does not mean they're treating it the same as their other eSports. It could have been much longer than 5 years in the grand scheme of things. That's young compared to VGC/TCG.

A day late for Pokken DX's anniversary, but I still can't believe Pokken existed. It always felt like living in an alternate universe that they would actually make a Pokemon fighting game. If I ever have the time, I should boot it up again for the heck of it.
