Thank you @CMSusanZhuang for your leadership in ensuring every child in our city has an equal opportunity to succeed!
Every child in NYC deserves equal access to education. 📚
@CMSusanZhuang’s new bill will require the administration to study how language barriers and geographic location impact student access to accelerated programs, with the goal of closing equity gaps.

14 years ago, as a result of Hurricane Sandy, our city lost 44 lives, thousands of homes were damaged or destroyed, and our communities suffered unthinkable emotional and financial harm.
Today, we honor and remember those we lost, the enormous obstacles we faced head on, and the heroes who helped us overcome them.
A great morning at 77th and Lex on the Upper East Side, greeting commuters and talking with New Yorkers about @KathyHochul’s leadership!
Election Day is less than a week away, and early voting is already underway. Make sure you have a plan to vote! 🗳️

Replying to @GovKathyHochul
@GovKathyHochul is right: We need restrictions on AI chatbots on children’s devices and increased security on access to baby monitors.
Like the Council’s own work on AI regulation, the State of New York is setting an example that other states should follow, and I applaud the Governor, @SenGonzalezNY and @AlexBores for their uncompromising leadership on this issue.

Michael's story is infuriating but, unfortunately, all too common.
@NYCCouncil will be holding an oversight hearing on this and other school bus issues in the coming weeks, led by Education Chair @EricDinowitzNYC. Our students deserve better.
Michael Mileto gets up at 5:30 am, and catches his school bus at 6:20 am.
He still gets to school late every day, at 8:50, missing lessons in math and literacy.
One story from the city's yellow bus system, which critics say is ready for an overhaul:

A devastating fire at the Patterson Houses in Mott Haven early this morning claimed the life of a young boy and left four members of his family critically injured.
Our city mourns the heartbreaking loss of this young New Yorker, and we are praying for a full recovery for his family members who remain hospitalized.
Thank you to our brave FDNY first responders for their swift response and lifesaving efforts.

The 9/11 memorial is a sacred space.
Any defacement of the memorial, no matter the reason or cause, is wholly unacceptable.
I'm grateful to @NYPDnews for their swift arrest of a suspect in this despicable act.
Jonathan Andrew Tijerina, 31, scrawled “juststopkillingkids.com” across bronze panels inscribed with the names of 9/11 victims at the memorial’s north pool around 5 p.m., police said. nydailynews.com/2026/10/27/g…
As our Attorney General @TishJames she has been a steadfast friend, tireless advocate, and stalwart fighter for our state and for every New Yorker.
I couldn’t be prouder to stand with her to support her for reelection.

Big news! @NYCCouncil is partnering with @32BJSEIU and @NorthwellHealth to help workers save up to $5M in out-of-pocket expenses by expanding access to over 40,000 low- or no-cost providers.
Thank you for championing affordable healthcare for all New Yorkers!

It’s never too early to plant seeds for college and fulfilling careers, and through @NYCKidsRISE, Katrina and her family are ahead of the curve.
This school year, for the first time, the @NYCCouncil has secured a $1,000 grant for every public-school kindergartner to open a college and career-training scholarship account.
The future looks bright!
It was great to join @josephwrand tonight in NYC and support him for State Senate! Thank you to @Shelley4Senate for all the work she is doing. Make sure to get out and vote!! 🗳️

Halloween is just a few days away, and there was no better way to celebrate than at the Friends of the East River Esplanade’s Spooktacular this past weekend.
Can’t wait to see everyone’s costumes this Saturday!
