⚡ IOTA just got faster: StarfishSpeed has been live on mainnet since 07:42 UTC today. In the normal case, transactions now get committed sooner. How it works: 🧩 Before a transaction is committed, validators have to agree which transaction comes before which. On IOTA, a method called Starfish handles this. It sends the actual transaction data separately from the rest of each block. ⏳ That used to cost time: validators first had to separately confirm that enough of them actually held the data. Only then was the transaction committed. 🗳️ Now they send that confirmation along with their vote on a block, in effect saying: "I already have the data." ✅ If enough of these votes come in, the separate confirmation is skipped. 🛟 If not, everything works as before. 📉 In the developers' benchmark with 19 validators, the median time until a transaction was committed fell from about 206 to 174 milliseconds – roughly 15% less. For mainnet that is an expectation, not yet a measurement. According to the specification, this brings IOTA back to the speed of Mysticeti, Starfish's predecessor, in the normal case, without giving up Starfish's robustness. 📊 Checked on the Tangle: ▫️ Epoch 506, until 07:42 UTC today: protocol version 34 ▫️ Epoch 507, since 07:42 UTC: protocol version 36, StarfishSpeed switched on ▫️ Validators had to upgrade in advance or risk removal and lost rewards, for their delegators too. 🔎 Nobody announced it, but a full perpetual futures exchange has been trading on the IOTA testnet since 16 September. Not a sketch. The whole machine: 📊 24 markets across BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, BNB, DOGE, ZEC and HYPE ⚡ Leverage up to 40x, with liquidation and auto-deleveraging 🛡️ Insurance fund, cross and isolated margin, withdrawal cooldowns 💰 Maker 0%, taker 0.038% 🔥 129 trades per second, over 12.1 million since 16 September Prices stream in live from Pyth Pro — a paid feed, signature-checked on the Tangle. We held all eight against the real market: widest gap 0.36%. Now the part worth sitting with. Measured on 21 September between 20:52 and 20:58 UTC: ▫️ Mainnet: 0.23 user transactions per second ▫️ This one exchange: roughly 28 Move it to mainnet and user load there climbs to around 120 times what it is today, with total network throughput more than doubling. Would it have to move? Technically, no. The testnet has run without interruption since November 2024, longer than mainnet has, and 12 of its 20 validators are the same ones. Signatures hold there just as well. Except those validators have nothing to lose. The mainnet committee has 2.39 billion IOTA at stake, the testnet committee has play money. And this exchange keeps its collateral inside the contract itself, not somewhere beside it. For a leveraged venue, finality is not a detail, it is the product — and you only get it where an attack costs something. Whether this becomes a product or stays a treadmill is an open question. But the rhythm says something: 3,690 packages were published on the testnet in seven days, 98.6% of them from five addresses belonging to this one team. One of those ships the entire stack 25 times a day. And output drops to a quarter on Saturdays and Sundays. A load test does not take Sundays off. No open source, no front end, no announcement. Im November 2025 nahm die IOTA Foundation das Unternehmen Turing Space in ihr Business Innovation Program auf. Von solchen Ankündigungen gibt es viele. Der Unterschied hier: Man kann nachzählen, was daraus geworden ist. 🔸 49.720 Notarisierungen in den vier Wochen seit dem 22. August – im Schnitt rund 1.700 pro Tag, an einzelnen Tagen über 6.000, dazwischen Ruhe. Das Muster einer Stapelverarbeitung 🔸 139 verschiedene Ausstelleradressen, jede mit eigener Aussteller-DID. Das spricht für eine Mandantenstruktur: ein Anbieter, viele Institutionen dahinter 🔸 Und jetzt der interessante Teil: Im Tangle steht kein einziges persönliches Datum. Nur Aussteller, Empfänger-DID, Schema, Zeitstempel – und sechs Hashwerte der eigentlichen Angaben 🔸 Wer das Zertifikat besitzt, legt einzelne Angaben gezielt offen und lässt sie gegen den Hash prüfen. Alles andere bleibt verborgen. Die Einträge sind gesperrt und nicht mehr änderbar Turing Space stellt digitale Zeugnisse und Nachweise aus. Laut IOTA-Blog hat die Firma Zertifikate für über 12.000 WHO-Freiwillige in 150 Ländern ausgegeben und mehr als 3,5 Millionen Herkunftsnachweise im taiwanesischen Ökostromhandel verifiziert. Warum IOTA, sagt Mitgründer und CTO Henry Hang offen: „IOTA's low-cost transaction fee model, combined with sponsored transactions, allows us to deliver a better experience for end users while scaling credential issuance affordably for large-scale enterprise." 🚨 Achtung: Auf dem #IOTA-Mainnet läuft gerade eine Phishing-Welle. Wer ein „IOTA Voucher"-NFT im Wallet findet, sollte es einfach liegen lassen. Der Ablauf lässt sich lückenlos im Ledger nachlesen: 🔸 Gestern um 20:10 UTC legt eine frisch erstellte Adresse ein Package an, das NFTs verteilt. Heute um 12:40 und 12:48 UTC kommen zwei gefälschte Coins dazu 🔸 Die Fälschung heißt IOTA, trägt das Symbol IOTA, hat neun Nachkommastellen – und als Icon das echte Logo von assets.iota.org. Im Wallet sieht sie aus wie das Original 🔸 Die NFTs versprechen „1 Million iota:native" auf einer fremden Seite. Deren Adresse nenne ich hier bewusst nicht, damit niemand versehentlich dort landet 🔸 Das Tempo zieht steil an: 4 Transaktionen gestern Abend, 9 heute Mittag – und allein ab 14:00 UTC 194. Während ich geprüft habe, stieg die Zahl der Voucher von 117 auf 196, also etwa zwölf pro Minute 🔸 Getroffen wird querbeet. In einer Stichprobe von 25 Empfängern lagen die meisten bei rund 1 IOTA – eine Adresse hält aber über 5,2 Millionen Woran man es erkennt: Name, Symbol, Nachkommastellen und sogar das Logo kann sich jeder aussuchen, der einen Coin anlegt. Verlässlich ist allein der Coin-Typ. Der echte Token ist 0x2::iota::IOTA – alles andere, das sich IOTA nennt, ist es nicht. Noch ein Detail: Die 133.171 gefälschten Einheiten liegen bisher vollständig beim Absender. Verteilt sind erst die NFTs. Ob die Coins noch folgen, ist offen. Was schützt: nichts anklicken, nichts einlösen, keine Wallet mit einer Seite verbinden, die aus einem geschenkten NFT heraus verlinkt ist. 📘 While everyone writes about price, an #IOTA employee is sitting inside a UN standard – and not as a guest. José Manuel Cantera Fonseca works on trade and standardisation at the IOTA Foundation. On the United Nations' own GitLab, he is the second most active author on the UN/CEFACT Web Vocabulary. The only person ahead of him is the UN project lead himself. The numbers, counted today: 🔸 125 of 443 commits across all branches, 52 of 316 on the main branch – second place either way 🔸 14 of the 50 merged merge requests are his 🔸 He merged six of them himself, including one written by the UN project lead. Whoever can merge has a say in what actually lands in the standard 🔸 In the UN meeting minutes of Aug 25 he takes on two sections: "scalable architecture" and the design principles What this is about: the vocabulary pulls UN/CEFACT Buy-Ship-Pay and the UN Transparency Protocol together into one shared dictionary for world trade – seven areas, from transport through customs to finance. How much the repository matters here is something the governance page states itself: "The master is this UN GitLab repository … The Turtle source there is the single source of truth." And it reaches well beyond IOTA. Anyone putting a digital product passport on the EU market may soon be legally required to align with vocabularies exactly like this one – the governance page names ESPR along with the battery and textile regulations. To be straight about it: he is co-writing the vocabulary, not putting IOTA technology into the standard. IOTA appears nowhere in it, and every term still sits at "proposed".
