It’s soooo painfully obvious who became a Liverpool fan after Klopp joined btw. Wants the squad to be world class overnight and can’t even patiently wait for progression

people calling for Iraola to be sacked is just a perfect summing up in how the fanbase is becoming more and more made up of people that joined 2/3 years into klopp’s reign

Klopp inherited the weakest squad of the three and built Liverpool into title contenders from scratch.
Slot inherited a ready-made squad and won the title without removing Klopp's DNA. Then he brought in his own philosophy and his own players, and the club backed his vision like no one before. It failed badly.
Iraola's situation is bizarre. He's inherited the expensive signings who didn't fire under Slot, and players like Gravenberch and Szoboszlai on big new contracts who still haven't found their feet in his system. There are gaping holes in the squad on top of that.
Worse, he's expected to fix it almost immediately, because he has "expensive players" and a better squad than Klopp ever started with.
Under Slot, these players were outrun week in, week out. Iraola's whole game is built on outrunning the opposition. He's being asked to wave a magic wand, shake them out of last season's slumber, and turn us into world-beaters overnight
Still don't understand how we haven't tried Szoboszlai RW yet, he would THRIVE

When we eventually build a functioning team around Wirtz/Isak/Barcola & they still underperform to various levels, you have all the right to want them replaced. Football is a team sport and we have not once properly put out a functioning XI in their time at the club so far. [3/3]

Real fans never did…the rest of you joined Carragher on that nonsense hate train and now look at what you’re watching

Every time Nyoni goes off the pitch, we lose all midfield control in the pivot. Every time Wirtz isn’t playing as the 10, we look toothless in attack without a connector and receiver in half spaces. Interesting dilemmas for Iraola’s 4-2-3-1, both are undroppable in this system.
If David Coote thought Klopp was a 'German Cunt' what do all the rest of Howard Webb's merryman think of Liverpool, the staff and their fans? Thank fuck we can't have them in Europe. Nice mid-week break from the congregation of bike seat sniffers from Great Manchester & Yorkshire

"An absolute embarrassment!" 😱
Steven Gerrard didn’t hold back on the decision not to award Liverpool a penalty.

⚽ VAR, Tribalism and the Great Refereeing Excuse
The reaction to Liverpool's defeat against Arsenal has exposed something deeply troubling about modern football. Supporters are so consumed by defending their own colours that the officials responsible for enforcing the laws escape the scrutiny they deserve.
Arsenal fans have been quick to remind me that Trey Nyoni was fortunate to avoid punishment for his early challenges. Jurrien Timber's sustained shirt pull on Alexander Isak warranted a penalty. Both grievances deserve consideration. Both can be legitimate.
Then came the extraordinary inconsistency surrounding Noni Madueke. Alexis Mac Allister undoubtedly exaggerated minimal contact, yet we've witnessed dismissals for similar confrontations. Mac Allister was booked, Timber received a caution for his involvement, Madueke escaped one despite already being booked. Where is the consistency?
And what of Mac Allister's theatrics? Had Andoni Iraola, frustrated by Isak remaining upright despite being fouled, urged his players at half-time to make contact impossible for officials to ignore? We cannot know, but the possibility raises an uncomfortable question. Would such an instruction explain Mac Allister's reaction, even if it could never entirely excuse it?
Must players now collapse theatrically before officials recognise an offence? Has football adopted cricket's appeals system, where justice depends upon the enthusiasm of the complainant?
Even Andy Madley's apparent jovial exchanges with Arsenal players emerging for the second half raised eyebrows. Perhaps an entirely innocent moment, but such familiarity inevitably attracts attention when confidence in officiating is already fragile.
Arsenal's defensive discipline deserves admiration, their gamesmanship considerably less.
Yet Arsenal supporters bear no responsibility for refereeing decisions. Neither do Liverpool supporters. Their endless arguments and snipes at me and others on social media merely divert attention from those entrusted with applying the laws.
VAR promised clarity and consistency. Instead, we have acquired another expensive layer of confusion, producing decisions that remain bewilderingly subjective.
If technology cannot deliver meaningful improvement or accountability, football must seriously question what it has sacrificed to accommodate it.

Predictably had a few dickheads bite back on this so it was nice to stumble upon this tomkinstimes.substack.com/p/… from Paul Tomkins. Good to see I’m not going mad and my annoyance is evidence based.
