ARE SWITCH GAME CARDS DOOMED?!
No.
I've seen this floating around a bit today and want to address it directly because it all feels so misinformed
🟥 Macronix does not make Switch 2 game cards
🟥 Macronix is one of several Switch 1 game card manufacturers
🟨 Macronix is winding down its ROM production. This is significant because they have been providing Nintendo with chips for something like 30 years!
Nothing to worry about here. The initial reporting is flawed at best and the followup reposts from news outlets are just parroting bad information.
Pikmin is a fun survival adventure where you collect food and resources on earth to save your dying company / planet with help from (pl)ant-like aliens named after carrots.
I'd understand someone not feeling the gameplay, but Pikmin isn't much stranger than Mario or Splatoon.
I have always found the idea of Pikmin quite weird and disturbing, you are essentially a dude in a spacesuit running around with coloured sperm in a garden picking up apples and duracell batteries.
I played Pikmin 1 for a few hours and played the Pikmin 3 demo and was like nope, can't do it! This game series is too weird.
It's mind boggling to me that Pikmin 4 has outsold every Metroid game.
The 40th anniversary Zelda style Switch 2 looks very cool (especially the green joycon), but I'm not currently interested in replacing my system or buying another.
I'll just have to live with the Zelda style Switch 2 shell I got a few months ago.

Watched the recent Nintendo indie world showcase. Next to Sword of the Sea this was one of the most interesting looking games to me.
I will definitely add the demo to my list of games to try.

Winds of Viridia launches on Nintendo Switch 2 in early 2027! A free demo will be available later today. #IndieWorld @SharkJumpAU

Cartridge check: Pokémon Legends: Z-A + Mega Dimension! 🔍
An Australian owner reports v2.0.2 on their Switch 2 cartridge, with both the base game and the Mega Dimension DLC included.
The code in the box is just for the bonus Ultra Balls — the expansion itself is on the cartridge! 🔥🔥
Nintendo had already announced this, but it’s always reassuring to see owners reconfirm it with their copies.
More releases like this, please! 💚
Thanks to @shannon64 for sharing the details with us!

Very glad to see Sword of the Sea has finally come to Nintendo Switch 2!
I will be looking out for early impressions and reviews of this version, and crossing my fingers for a fully physical release since the game is under 5GB.
Empty Key games like Pokemon Pokopia won't get a full physical reprint for the launch edition, but we know publishers are allowed to release new upgraded editions on standard physical if they go through certification for it again - like Pokemon Legends Z-A, and Sonic Crossworlds.
Nintendo Apparently Has A Policy To Prevent Game-Key Cards Getting A Full-Cart Reprint nintendolife.com/news/2026/1…
Another empty lame key card for a game that could have easily fit on a standard Switch 2 card.
Nintendo's terms even say digital games & empty keys can be removed from their service without warning and there's nothing they will do to help you.
Don't let real physical games die.
