The @OfficialFBOP is at the end of the federal criminal justice system. It doesn’t decide who is sentenced to prison or for how long, but it must safely carry out those sentences and prepare people to return home.

Recently, we presented @NCC , located in Washington, D.C., with the Charles Colson Servant of Hope Award. National Community Church has demonstrated a high level of commitment to serving people impacted by incarceration through its Love Justice ministry.
The Charles Colson Servant of Hope Award recognizes a person, organization, or volunteer who demonstrates servant leadership by bringing hope, redemption, and restoration into correctional environments and makes prison a place of renewal and second chances.
Congratulations, NCC! 🎉

As summer winds down and a new school year begins, children with a mom or dad in prison have a simple message: Thank you. 🙏 Because of your generosity, these children experienced a summer filled with joy, encouragement, and hope.

Each year, 450,000 people return home from prison ready to work and contribute to their communities. But finding a job continues to be one of the toughest hurdles they face. Many employers are hesitant to offer someone a second chance, even as certain jobs are in high demand. Returning citizens are often overlooked regardless of their skills, qualifications, or desire to work—putting their families and the economy at a disadvantage.
Contact your member of Congress today and ask them to support returning citizens on their reintegration journey!⬇️

The countdown is on! In just one week, we’ll officially mark 50 years of ministry with the incarcerated and their families. For five decades, we’ve witnessed God’s faithfulness and transforming work, and we can’t wait to honor this special milestone together.

In an unprecedented move, more than two dozen congressional staff members visited #FCIPetersburg Low for an on-site tour led by @BOPDepDirector, marking the Bureau’s first-ever large-scale congressional staff facility visit. For years, many of our challenges were discussed from a distance, but this time, congressional staff experienced institution operations firsthand, engaged directly with inmates and Bureau leadership, and saw the significant infrastructure and staffing challenges facing the federal prison system.

Both sides agree across the aisle. 🤝
In today’s Attorney General confirmation hearing both sides agree we need to pass the Safer Supervision Act.
Acting Attorney General @DAGToddBlanche endorsed the bipartisan Safer Supervision Act during his Senate confirmation hearing today.
The legislation is led by @SenMikeLee (R-UT) and Sen. @ChrisCoons (D-DE) who have come together around a simple idea: federal supervision should make us safer.
The Safer Supervision Act would make federal supervision more effective and more focused on public safety by helping probation officers focus their time and resources where they are needed most.
Now Congress needs to act.

Carmelo is passionate about the hope that Prison Fellowship Angel Tree can bring families because he knows what it feels like to be both an incarcerated dad and a child with an absent parent. It wasn’t long ago Carmelo was a young father in prison facing a life sentence.
One little postcard from his daughter, however, changed everything.
Now, as a chaplain, he ministers to over 7,000 prisoners. Read more about Carmelo and how God truly transforms pain into purpose!

Every state has barriers that can keep people from working, supporting their families, and successfully rebuilding their lives after incarceration. On average, more than one-third of those barriers are tied to occupational licensing.
It's time to remove unnecessary barriers while protecting public safety.
Check out the map below to see how many barriers there are in your state and join us in advocating for second chances!

The Federal Bureau of Prisons is modernizing operations with secure, correctional grade tablets that enhance safety, expand rehabilitative programming and streamline workflows. This modernization reduces administrative burden, improves efficiency, and supports better behavior and lower recidivism. #ModernizingCorrections

ALT A poster titled "Inmate Tablet Services Modernization Initiative" features five key points: 1) A secure corrections technology platform. 2) Tablets provide evidence-based tools supporting successful reentry. 3) Stronger family connections help reduce recidivism and improve behavior. 4) Digital workflows reduce administrative burden. 5) Phased implementation ensures security remains a priority. The bottom right corner displays the seal of the Federal Bureau of Prisons. A hand is seen holding a tablet in the background.
