INVEST 91L UPDATE: NHC has now increased the chance of development to 80 percent.... The area of low pressure located over the northeastern Gulf continues to become better defined and the associated shower and thunderstorm activity is gradually increasing. Continued gradual development is expected, and a tropical depression is likely to form later today or on Monday as the system moves slowly northward or northwestward. Interests along the northern Gulf coast from Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana should monitor the progress of this system, as tropical storm watches or warnings could be required for portions of the area later today. In addition, this system is expected to bring heavy rains to portions of the northern Gulf coast during the next several days. An Air Force Reserve reconnaissance aircraft is scheduled to investigate the low pressure area later today. Key messages for the Central Gulf Coast (Gulf Shores to Panama City Beach): *This feature will bring elevated coverage of showers and storms over the next few days, but no day will be a wash-out. There will be good periods of sun. Just expect occasional tropical showers. *91L is not expected to become a strong tropical storm or hurricane, the main concern is from periods of heavy rain and a few waterspouts. *There will be a high danger of rip currents tomorrow through Wednesday. *Showers thin out along the coast late in the week as the tropical low moves west away from the region.

TROPICS: Tropical storm formation is not expected at least for the next seven days. Models have totally backed off on the idea of a broad tropical low in the northern Gulf next week.

Cape Verde took defending FIFA World Cup Champions Argentina to the BRINK OF ELIMINATION. Goes to show you that it doesn’t matter how small your country is. It’s about the size of the fight in your people that matters. Cabo Verde made their people proud.

After seasonable temperatures today, we crank up the thermostat this weekend. Temperatures will be running near 90° and it’ll be the return of the muggy air. It’s going to be a lil toasty out there. #arwx #weather #Arkansas

Aside from now, only two other periods since 2000 have D3-D4 conditions covered at least 40% of the state (2005-2006 and 2012-2013). To see any improving drought conditions, anywhere from 5-15 inches of rain would need to fall (depending on location over the next 30 days. #arwx

Latest model data continues to develop storms in west Arkansas later this evening. (After 6 PM) Still a very low to low threat for severe storms, but they will be noisy regardless. Not everyone will see rain tonight. Large hail and damaging winds continue to be the main threats if storms get strong enough. #arwx #Arkansas

Strong Storms Wednesday ⛈️ We have a low severe risk Wednesday afternoon and evening across the western half of Arkansas. Not everyone will see storms or even rain Wednesday, but a storm or two could get strong enough to produce large hail and damaging winds. More chances for rain and storms through the upcoming weekend. #arwx #Arkansas

An active weather pattern is expected this upcoming week with storms (some strong possible) and heavy rain. Watching next Wednesday for the potential for strong storms. A low severe risk is already out for west Arkansas. Hopefully we’re setting up for some good, beneficial rainfall. Still too early for exact details, so stay tuned. #arwx #Arkansas
