Reminder that Connie Chan adamantly opposed Car-Free JFK in Golden Gate. She tried several times to bring cars back to it, but fortunately failed because she's not very good at getting anything done.
In shocking news, Rec and Parks doesn't support a proposition to turn a popular park into a roadway. In other news, SF librarians are against props to turn libraries into parking garages.
The Rec & Park is conducting a stealth campaign against the Prop G compromise on the
Great Highway. @SelenaC10705 @LarryQ6
I always find it entertaining that the Open the Great Highway folks are anti-density and want to maintain the suburban feel of the Westside. Then go to Sunset Dunes and complain it's not packed with people like it's Times Square. Every video has people using the park.
Real-life counterpoint: remember when Uber and Lyfts allowed everyone to take a car to the front door of airport terminals. Then they had to move them to distant locations to avoid crippling congestion. Door to door transport for everyone is impossible.
I can ensure you that the reason Market Street is struggling is because international tourism in SF tanked starting in 2020, not because the buses run THROUGH Market Street (as they have for a 100 years).

A couple weeks ago a woman on a scooter was run over and killed by a truck driver on Market Street. @Noahpinion's solution is to add more cars to the street, because that will help drivers get to the imaginary parking garages on Market Street. This is a very uninformed take.
By closing Market Street to cars but not buses, San Francisco demonstrated the fundamental failing of American urbanism: thinking of urban areas as places to go THROUGH rather than as places to go TO.

Over a decade ago, there was a plan to move the bike route from Market Street to Mission Street and build protected bike lanes. Bike advocates fought that plan. I think that was a mistake
Supervisor @scsherrill and Mayor @DanielLurie told everyone the best way to get to fireworks was via Muni. Not true. This is an agency that just can't deliver. Everyone knew traffic would be terrible except city officials apparently
Idea for @rtwlz: in the 1906 earthquake and fire, SF lost its building records so most build dates are wrong in city docs to this day. The only surviving source is hand written from the water company with water tap hookup dates. It's scanned right here: sflib1.sfpl.org/record=b2727…
Masonic is literally halfway across the city (almost 4 miles) from the Great Highway, but somehow the backup is caused by Sunset Dunes.
Wait I thought everyone agreed now that San Francisco should be enforcing its laws. Now we're praising the suburbs for allowing illegal activity?!
Reminder that a 2 year old in a crosswalk was killed by a driver 3 weeks ago.
One more reason to stay in the suburbs and not go into the city these days. The camera tickets are insane.
It feels like every single intersection in San Francisco has purposely installed a "no turn on red" sign and a red light camera. One way to one way streets where you totally should be able to turn right on a red light.
Speed cameras, red light cameras, gouging the drivers of San Francisco.
I guess when all of your businesses leave you have to figure out how to replace your sales tax revenue with something.
Good old "San Francisco values" again.
The number of VCs quoting this TV station tweet with their takes, while never looking at the underlining business plan or comparing it to the 2024 business plan is telling. CAHSRA is relentlessly cutting costs and speeding up delivery, doing everything right currently.
In a 60 Minutes report, officials said they now believe the rail line linking L.A. and San Francisco could ultimately cost about $126 billion, more than triple the original price tag approved by voters. ktla.com/news/california/cal…
Adding more parking instead of a residential parking permit is a choice. And not the correct one if you are trying to increase parking availability.
People literally drive to the Sunset leave their cars there before vacations, because there are no regulations on street parking.
San Francisco's Sunset parking situation is dire, and the city's newest supervisor has come up with "a win-win solution" that he feels is sure to succeed: turning existing street spaces into angled or 90-degree parking. abc7ne.ws/0EXePn
This pedestrian isn't jaywalking. In California it is perfectly legal to cross midblock as long as at least one end of the block isn't controlled by a traffic signal. This block has stop sign controlled intersections on both ends.
Billionaires freaking out about California being a terrible place to do business seem to forget it's the only (meaningful) state to ban non-competes. Such a killer advantage for workers and innovation.
This is one of the most financially illiterate statements I've ever read from @DanielLurie. If they've bought their house decades ago, they are literally millionaires with small or no mortgages. Recent home purchases have mortgages and hence primarily owned by banks.

Everyone who follows SF politics knew the Mayor was shooting himself in the foot by not defending Engardio against the recall. To succeed as Mayor in SF, you need to be a good operator and a good politician. Lurie relies on polls too much.
