PATHETIC! The NFL just fined a cornerback for giving God the glory. Arizona’s Kei’Trel Clark wrote “Glory be to God” on his eye black in Week 1. The league hit him with a $6,651 fine. He posted the letter and said he still has to report to God on judgment day, so he will keep giving that glory out loud. The @NFL should be ashamed of itself.

Earlier this week I reported on the Julian Wachner plea deal and sentencing. The former world-renowned composer turned IPS teacher admitted he purchased hundreds of videos of child sexual abuse material and was in possession of cocaine. A Marion County judge sentenced him to no prison time. He received 6 years of probation. You were outraged at the sentence and I was shocked. You wanted to know how does this happen? I am going to be brutally honest and tell you it’s Friday and I want to spend time with my family so this is not going to be as thorough as it could be, but I wanted to go on the record with a few thoughts after reading the court transcript. Wachner’s attorney won over the judge! He was prepared with a psychologist and other testimony that explained in detail why Wachner did what he did and why probation would be a better suited punishment for him. The psychologist said Wachner was sexually abused himself from the age of 6-10 and by a prestigious man in the classical music industry. We do not know who that man is and there was never a case brought against him that we know of. She said she had never had a client want to work harder at bettering himself. She described him as a zero on a scale of likely to reoffend and went into detail about the different therapies and treatments he is receiving by many doctors and therapists. Wachner talked to the judge. It was easy to believe what Wachner said about being disgusted at his “sins,” how remorseful he was at destroying the lives of his now ex-wife and two young children. I understood why the judge thought his current treatment plan was better than putting him in prison. Not saying I agree, just saying if you read the entire document, you could understand it. I wish I could share it! The judge has prohibited us. The Marion County prosecutor told us he was aggressively prosecuting this case. Did he? When the judge asked the prosecutor who handled the case if she had any witnesses the answer was, “No.” No psychologist, no therapist, no doctor to talk about the other side of CSAM and cocaine addiction and the likelihood that someone reoffends. The prosecutor said the detective could not be in attendance, so she read a statement. Don’t get me wrong, the statement was compelling! The detective asked the judge to consider the number of files and the severity of the content. Babies being raped, crying, struggling, experiencing unimaginable pain. The detective wrote how he was being affected by having to view the horrific, lengthy videos. He wanted the judge to consider the videos are of real children and every time someone buys the material or views it - it exploits the child repeatedly. He asked the judge to consider that when he sentenced Wachner. The judge brought up the fact that the media wanted cameras in the courtroom and that he knew the community was interested in the case but said we should not just look at the result. He said he could not find any aggravating factors in the case. He said he was thankful he did not have to look at the children being raped, but he is not convinced some sex abuse material is more disturbing than others. The judge said mitigating factors were present. No criminal history, acceptance of responsibility, avoiding cost of a trial, Wachner cooperated with police, and that he was a victim of child abuse himself. The judge said if he sentenced Wachner to prison all of his therapy would stop. Toward the end of the sentencing the judge said he has known the prosecutor long enough to know that if she was adamant that Wachner needed a prison term in the Department of Correction, “she would tell me that’s where it needs to go down.” The judge said Wachner needs to understand the break he is getting. He said if Wachner possesses anymore CSAM he will personally handle his violation case.
