Hope for the trenches
New on Peak: established coins can鈥檛 be vamped.
Every coin already gets its ticker, name and launch tweet locked for 3 days.
Now the protection doesn鈥檛 stop there.
If your coin is alive, $20K+ market cap (or graduated and holding $10K+) and still trading, nobody can launch your ticker or name on Peak.
No copycats. No sniping your name the day after the lock ends.
Build something real and Peak protects it for as long as it鈥檚 alive.
Coins that die or stop trading free their names back up, so nobody can hold a good name hostage.
The trenches, without the vampires.
launchonpeak.fun
The same day I wrote that, $PEAK launched.
And they have an anti-vamp feature built in their launchpad.
They also address other issues but vamping is one of the main issues that ruined trenching. If it works as intended and we get some runners on it, that would be peak.
Being in crypto rn feels like this
It's not about the price going up or down, but being vulnerable to data leaks, wallet hacks, CEX and banks freezing your account, nowhere safe.
Atp learning and working a trade has to be the best ROI because nobody can touch that.
it's worth noting
every cycle, near the bottom of the bear,
there's a period of time where the threat to crypto *feels* existential, in a credible way.
i don't think it's a real bear market, nor do we get a real bull market, until something like this flushes out "tourists" (as much as i hate that phrase)
if you weren't there, or were there and forgot, the period of time bracketed below, but especially the circled area..
i almost sold everything there
this was the debanking era. honestly felt even worse than what we're experiencing today. it wasn't down to "unknown advances in quantum/AI cryptography" (that many cryptographers dispute the timeline of)
it was down to the stroke of a pen/will of a few bureaucrats.
basically any/all financial institution involved in the plumbing that supports being able to on/offramp crypto was being both openly (and secretly) undermined with a goal of destruction
everything would have gone to zero.
i know some people were like "but btc/crypto is permissionless and decentralized and cypherpunk! no central entity can shut it down!"
yeah but you know what central entities *can* do, if they have the right regulatory/agency backing, and political environment?
effectively remove the "buy" button for 99% of users by killing the intermediaries that provide rails/UX for anyone that's not a 2010-era computer science nerd.
i remember at the apex of this, headlines came out that the NYS AG was suing ethereum (or something similar) which was my biggest holding at the time
thankfully lawsuits brought by coinbase/other parties were beginning to very, very slowly lead to victories in courts, and soon enough, we got the ETF news, and we were off to the races again
this time, the existential threat has a different face/shape/name, but serves the same purpose. we can't have big upside without big risk. those that are plugged in enough to see a light at the end of the tunnel and throw their plums, rod, and chips on the table can reap the reward. been this way for 15+ years.
i don't know when we ultimately go to new highs, don't know if we go lower, but happy to sit here and endure the discomfort

It鈥檚 actually crazy how X makes you believe the entire world is falling apart every single day.
Another war, another crisis, another headline about how we鈥檙e all fucked.
Then you go outside and realize everyone is just living their normal lives, going to work, eating at restaurants and enjoying themselves.
Sometimes you just need to close X, stop consuming all this fear and go enjoy your life. The algorithm makes you believe that everything is negative and bad.
Binance is lowkey the Steam of crypto
This hack shows why you should use Binance if you use a CEX
You get laser fast responses from Tether/Circle etc and they have a massive treasury to refund users and a history for doing so and a massive community all eyes tracking and monitoring whats going on which you dont get elsewhere
The insight is don鈥檛 expect to be the exception and instead think about how it can succeed even with an exploit
I read about the binance hack tweet and thought about it as much as id decide what to eat for lunch - I think its also why it wont impact price as much as people might think
This is not about Defi or Cefi it needs to have that kind of structure either way- not be surprised and have no plan
Same with investing in general consider being wrong upfront - the biggest mistake people/companies/governments and protocols make is only working from view that things will only go right
Any exchange or protocol you have money with MUST have a track record/protocol and treasury for dealing with hacks - just saying they have good security is not enough no matter how good it seems
Also why I dont recommend using obscure hardware wallets or random exchanges as even if they technically might be better how they can deal with it when something goes wrong is just as important
Id rather for example have money on Binance and have a hypothetical higher chance of being hacked knowing they would refund then an exchange which has low risk but if hacked you would have no recourse
(I dont have funds on there and no conflict of interest )

I've been heavily speculating in the markets (not full time) since 1992. My first trades were before online brokerage, you had to call in for quotes and to place orders. 4% commission in AND out.
I had a great run during the DOT COM era. By 1999, I had a really chunky (for my age) portfolio and thought it was easy. By late 2000, the account was $0. That part was fun, at least. For the next 10 years I was super active, some good runs, some big drawdowns. Overall, nothing exceptional. Just decent.
Then something shifted. The need to speculate faded and that鈥檚 when things actually got better.
Once I stopped chasing it, opportunities started coming to me. Not just in trading. As I鈥檝e gotten older and less interested in money itself, seeing opportunity has become clearer. And more than anything, removing that constant need elevated how I experience life.
This isn鈥檛 meant to be spiritual (for some it is). But for a lot of people who are active and still underperforming, it鈥檚 worth asking what purpose this is really serving.
Most of the time, it鈥檚 just a dopamine loop. And for many, it鈥檚 closer to an addiction than they would like to admit. And that could be what鈥檚 holding you back.
How much money has been lost to vamping and pvp.
You find a good trend/meme, buy a token early, but then the cabal launches a bundle with the same name and runs it to millions.
AI wouldn't do everything, it would be a neutral arbiter following a public prompt and set of rules
