First Alert: A more powerful storm system will dive into the plains early next week. This system will bring us not only some rain, but perhaps, some heavy thunderstorms.
This could provide disruptive weather on Election Day. You may want to vote this week. #etxwx
First Alert: The good news is that we do have a weather pattern shift that will bring us two separate rain-makers in the next week.
Rainfall amounts could average 1".
Given our ongoing drought and burn ban statuses, we need this rain even if the timing is not the best. #etxwx
First Alert: October is typically one of our wetter months of the year. That will not be the case in 2026.
After receiving 0.32" on the first day of the month, the Angelina County Airport has not received any measurable rainfall since that point. #etxwx

First Alert: A shift in the weather pattern will bring some rain to east Texas.
This will come from two weather makers.
One will provide light rain Friday into Saturday followed by a more powerful storm system and cold front moving in by Election Day. #etxwx
Burn Ban Update 🔥🔥
Both Nacogdoches and Trinity counties have declared burn bans today.
We now have 11 of our 13 east Texas counties under burn restrictions.
Drying fuels and meager rainfall in October will keep this trend going until further notice. #etxwx

I had a wonderful visit with the 4th graders at Alto Elementary as we discussed the changing of the seasons, cold fronts, winter weather, severe thunderstorms, and tornadoes.
They were a fun group.

Dry air, brisk north winds gusting to 30 mph, and drought conditions will lead to a very high fire danger across East Texas on Friday. Texas regulations prohibit outdoor burning if winds exceed 23 mph - so even if you're not under a burn ban - no outdoor burning on Friday!
First Alert: Our guidance continues to trend cooler with both our low and high temperatures from Friday through this weekend with our first notable fall cold frontal passage.
Many of you will be searching out the long sleeves for the first time since the spring season. #etxwx
