I was expecting to live around 10 years (per the data) when I started #dialysis aged 14 in 1998. So today, 25 years later & my 40th birthday 🥳 is a somewhat welcome surprise!!! I have learnt some stuff - thought I would share it ❤️ thanks for all the good wishes! /1

Amber's father was viciously abusive. She & her brother went into the care system.
June 2021 at a care home she was r•ped by a man. Nov 2021 her brother brutally r•ped & murdered her. Even in death she found no peace. The man who found her naked lifeless body assaulted her.

A thread for the ultra-wealthy.
If you are wealthy, you may think that if the U.K. switches from an NHS-model to a private model of healthcare it will either a) be better for you, or b) will not affect you.
Here is why you are wrong…

“In one of the most notable moments in sports history, Kenyan runner Abel Mutai was just a few feet from the finish line, but became confused with the signage and stopped thinking he had completed the race.
A Spanish athlete, Ivan Fernandez, was right behind him, and after realizing what was happening, he started shouting at the Kenyan for him to continue running; but Mutai didn't understand his Spanish.
Fernandez eventually caught up to him and instead of passing him, he pushed him to victory.
A journalist asked Ivan, "Why did you do that?"
Ivan replied, “My dream is that someday we can have a kind of community life where we push and help each other to win.” The journalist insisted “But why did you let the Kenyan win?" Ivan replied, "I didn't let him win, he was going to win.” The journalist insisted again, “But you could have won!”Ivan looked at him & replied, “But what would be the merit of my victory? What would be the honor of that medal?
What would my Mom think of that?”
Values are transmitted from generation to generation.
What values are we teaching our children?
Let us not teach our kids the wrong ways to WIN.”

Today, a mother-of-three has been jailed for 28 months after using abortion pills to end her own pregnancy.
No woman can ever go through this again.
We need abortion law reform in Great Britain NOW.
#TimeToAct
Tomorrow, a woman in England will be sentenced for ending her own pregnancy.
The maximum sentence she could receive is up to life imprisonment - the harshest penalty in the world.
We need abortion law reform now.

The @The_RHS revealed in Greening Grey Britain that between 2005 and 2015, an additional 3 million front gardens were paved over.
This has huge implications for overheating, flooding, and biodiversity loss.
Homeowners should be mandated to retain 50% 'natural' garden space.

This is misogyny. This is the reality of our courts.
This is why we can’t/won’t/don’t prosecute rape of women and girls.
Because no matter what he did, observers always find a way to blame the woman.

Did you know that the way a woman looks will impact whether her rapist or abuser is found guilty in a courtroom?
This was one of the most depressing findings of my PhD years ago.
