not only is the entire sports debate a non-issue, it shows you are willing to throw one of the most vulnerable populations of people in our country under the bus bc of a coordinated attack and you have zero spine!!
Old enough to remember Scalia arguing that if gay marriage was permitted, there was no firewall that prevented multiple marriages, either.
Of course, the gay marriage proponents said "oh, that will never happen" at the time.
The thing that would never happen is happening.
"Tell me why trans athletes in sports were okay up until 2016"
You think people never noticed this nonsense until 2016?

Well, since you most cowardly blocked me before I could answer, I can tell you that I have been involved with athletic sex-based fairness issues since the East German fiasco in the 1970's.
Hope that helps, loser. @Kuuhaku3993
I can assure you that there is hard, scientific evidence that HRT does not erase all of male athletic advantage; and indeed, it is impossible for it to do so.

Talarico faces an age/election wall.
It is statistically probable that a D will win POTUS in 2028 and serve two terms. Also, that an R will win in 2036 and serve two terms. (WH flips > 80% after a 2 term POTUS).
His next statistically likely window to win would be in 2044.
Right on schedule, the MAGAs moving to the "It wasn't us, it wasn't Trump, it was fraud" cope.
🚨Two numbers from Texas that don’t pass the smell test:
Gina Hinojosa just got 5.23 million votes for governor. That’s more than any gubernatorial candidate in modern Texas history — higher than Abbott’s 4.66M peak in 2018 and 1.68M more than Beto got in 2022.
James Talarico got 5.45 million for Senate. That’s only about 940k short of Trump’s entire 2024 presidential total in Texas… in a midterm.
Republican raw votes stayed flat. Democratic votes exploded. Midterm turnout somehow produced presidential-level Democratic numbers.
Totally normal. Nothing to see here.
This is the most likely scenario going forward.
Texas will be fine.
For the next two years, the Trump administration, State Senate, county governments, and state constitution will check Democrats' major excesses.
Then there will be a partial flip-back in the 2028 election where Republicans regain the state house.
Texas won't be a forever Blue state.
Abbot transformed Texas into the sane, business-friendly alternative to California. Paxton was the biggest liability preventing companies from moving there, because they have to disavow the entire state every time Republicans put out the more unhinged policies/statements.
Having an unempowered Democrat governor is the perfect setup for an economic boom in Texas. Florida can't compete because hurricanes and the heat/climate is significantly worse due to humidity.
The Texas government will shift between Red and Blue depending on what makes sense, which will force Republicans to compete more and not take voters for granted.
I also think the biggest waves of mass migration are over, because even Democrats are realizing that having zero immigration enforcement is extremely unpopular. Left governments in Europe already resumed enforcing their immigration laws.
The voter base for Texas will be the people who want to do business in a marketplace not the people who want to relax on a beach and collect welfare checks.
It's not going back to what it was pre-Abbot, but it's not going to become California either. Conservatives won't get what they wanted, but also won't get what they most feared, either.
The first thing partisans do, after getting their heads handed to them, is to try and find a reason why the bloodbath was unrelated to the policies their party prefers.
"Our ideas are still great!"
Wash, rinse, repeat.
If you are having trouble trying to wrap your head around what happened in Texas and Nevada last night, let me help explain it for you.
In 2024 alone, roughly 77,000 people moved from California to Texas. That same year, about 53,000 moved from California to Nevada.
Those two states just delivered some of the biggest Democratic wins of the night.
James Talarico flipped the U.S. Senate seat and became the first Democrat to win a Texas Senate race since 1988
Gina Hinojosa defeated Greg Abbott and became the first Democratic governor of Texas in decades
Aaron Ford defeated incumbent Republican Joe Lombardo and flipped the governor’s office.
Yea, well, they don't have that power, do they?
Lordy. Haven't we had enough of the pseudointellectual faux-sociological analyses at this point?
I don't want to terrify the Rs who today are comforting themselves with the idea that Trump is a firewall against Dem nuttery, but remember that Trump is about Trump first and foremost, and he'll do whatever he senses is best to cement a positive legacy.
This is correct. And interesting --- MAGA has been rejected, but the GOP doesn't want to go back to Bush/Ryan/Rove, while the new Dems don't want to go back to Clinton/Biden.
When you listen to James Talarico, you realize that last night's results were not just a rejection of Trump and Israel's Iran war, but also a rejection of a Democratic Party led by people like Biden, Blinken, and Sullivan:
"I've never taken money from AIPAC, and I'm not taking money from AIPAC in this campaign. Seeing what's happening in Gaza makes me sick to my stomach as a teacher, as a Christian, as a human being"
This is his message, and he won in Texas!
No, they mean a cheek swab.

OK, homebuilders are going nuts today, big increases across the board.
Why do investors think the election changes the equation for homebuilding? This one's kinda stumped me. @DianaOlick
Now that the sex inclusionists have lost, they suddenly want to offer compromises and olive branches.
Too late.

I just don’t get why they want the government involved in this. This can be handled by school districts or WIAA or case by case… talk about government overreach
Election day, and these assholes still haven't figured out that when there's cost-of-living stress around the kitchen table, social issues become unimportant.
