More evidence football is in a far better place - structures & rules - when 8 counties get All Stars. Great to see the love being spread around. Almost anyone playing in the All-Ireland series can now win an All Star if their county goes on a bit of a run. How it should be

This Mayo press won't be simple to replicate Recall 2025 Division 2 Final at Croke Park, few thousand in. All you could hear was Andy Moran urging the Monaghan players to press up. From start to finish, full forwards got some badgering 😅. He's been at this a while

Beautiful and poignant. Just a game? Never has been, never will be. What goes into it. What is it? It's not bigger than life. But it is living. Christ, to be in Mayo this week. To waken up smiling. Today, tomorrow, next week, next month. Winter? An endless summer, still smiling
Short and simple from Lee Keegan "Mayo Are All-Ireland Champions"

What an out ball from the imperious Jack Carney to stop a late pressure press

Is David McBrien still the most underrated player in the country 🤔

What really set Mayo apart, pressing of front 3 on different planet to anything we've seen b4. Credit attitude of 3 men. Doesn't happen without serious coaching & everyone else pushing up. So brave. Easy thing is, drop off into 11 v 11 defensive shape. High risk. High reward.

If ever 3 men deserved this. Undeterred by so much heartbreak, just missing Lee Keegan
"We had some craic at losing banquettes, so we are going to have an unreal couple of weeks." Mayo manager Andy Moran and his management team Colm Boyle and Keith Higgins are full of praise for their players and each other. #SundayGame

Cora Staunton dead right there, Ryan O'Donoghue is a boxer, 2 handed tackling, remember him saying in interviews about 6am runs, 10kms or something, father with car lights on, these boys are different gravy. Don't just arrive, they're hours, days, years, decades in the making

That's a good team of the year. Ronan Wallace, Rory Beggan, Mike Breen, Darragh Beirne, Stephen O'Hanlon, Peadar O Cofaigh Byrne very unlucky. Can't please everyone.

Lads, Rory Beggan was the best goalie in the country this year, Shane Murphy been excellent but Beggan can do and has done it all

Ryan O'Donoghue clear man of match today. He drove Mayo to that All-Ireland title. Absolute force of nature. One of the great final displays considering the the weight of history & pressure of expectation

Looks increasingly like hurling may need a round robin All-Ireland, or Leinster counties will keep falling further back off the standard, no Leinster All-Ireland now since Galway in 2017. Round robin came in, in 2018. All those quality Munster games opening up a bigger gap – at Fingal, Ireland

Didn't think he did, but looking at second goal, makes a tackle, half limps and slows down despite no whistle, doesn't close down Messi at all on cross. It's the end of a World Cup semi final. – at Fingal, Ireland

Can't see their being much of a fallout here for the players & German manager who won an epic, at altitude apparently. in the Azteca, outbored Norway in the quarterfinals & did really well for an hour against Argentina in the semi finals. Good tournament all round – at Fingal, Ireland

Jaysus, Konsa, centre half for attacking left winger, who has just scored, Gordon, & expect to invite Messi on to you for 25 minutes. Not a great idea. Then a sixth defender was it, lost count, Burn for Rice. – at Fingal, Ireland

Simeone be in double figures for fouls before he gets a yellow. Ref not helping flow of the game. Odd card might discourage all the niggly fouls – at Fingal, Ireland

Some job Jason Foley did on Con O'Callaghan and David Byrne on David Clifford. But these pair always get the best man marker, focus of gameplan to stop them & most attention in games, allowing others to shine. Paudie Clifford the man who took most advantage. – at Dublin City, Ireland
