A true artist
Deirdre McLoughlin, Craft Prize 2018 finalist is the second artist to complete a two-month residency at La Residencia in Mallorca, as part of our Artists in Residencia programme in partnership with Belmond.
A sculptor since first touching clay in 1972, McLoughlin spent her early years between Amsterdam, Dublin and Kyoto. Having lived briefly in Sóller as a student, she has focused on local clay during her residency, reinterpreting familiar environments through a renewed perspective.
Artists in Residencia has been conceived to further support the alumni of the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize. Following Kaori Juzu and Deirdre McLoughlin, Craft Prize 2022 winner Dahye Jeong will be in residence from September to October.
