After nearly 44 years on this earth I can say with 100% certainty that you shouldn’t do business with people who treat servers poorly. It’s a sign of how they were raised and what your future relationship will look like.

An Austin, Texas, school added AI tutors for students for just two hours daily and shot to the top 2% nationwide. Estonia & China are also implementing AI integration in schools. Traditional education is dead.

Three things I’d do differently if I were starting at Stanford today: 1) Post on X. Could be product teardowns, dispatches from campus, random musings. 2) Add CS to my Econ major. Even if Cursor writes all our code, it’s helpful to know how things work. 3) Intern at growth stage startups. So valuable for young people to see inside companies that are “working” but still high velocity / low bureaucracy.

This is an 8th grade exam from 1912. No calculating how many watermelons Stacey can fit in her station wagon. It's all about things like interest payments and construction problems. Real-world stuff. Because 8th grade education was supposed to be adequate prep for real life.

Esther Perel says the quality of our relationships determines the quality of our lives. I’d like to add: The focus of our curiosity determines the trajectory of our lives.

Create your own luck. Magic is waiting on the other side of this question: “How can I put myself in a new situation today?” Walk a different route. Start a conversation in the elevator. Message that person who keeps floating to your mind. Change inputs, change outputs.

Startups are inconceivably hard. So few break through to achieve meaningful scale. Yet, for a small subset of people, building something from nothing is the only work they want to do. And once they’ve had a taste, they can never go corporate or do anything but build again.
