Repurposing an old joke about Vladimir Putin's election victory...
'Mr. Poilievre received an 84 per cent vote of confidence in his leadership at the Conservative convention. This triggered a run-off. They ran off the 16 per cent who didn't vote for him.'
President Trump wants us to believe Prime Minister Carney has 'walked back' his Davos comments. Either way, it doesn't matter....the genie is out of the bottle, and the background to the PM's speech is in this very revealing New York Times article: nytimes.com/2026/01/27/opini…
One of my boys was listening to an American newscast this morning, and one commentator referred to 'American allies'. Who might those be these days? Are there really any left??
It is beyond inconceivable that Pierre Poilievre would...or could...express himself like Mark Carney has done in Davos: cbc.ca/news/politics/carney-…
If you've had a hard time launching your post-Christmas diet, I prescribe a reading of this fawning tribute to Donald Trump by 'Sir' Conrad Black in the National Post. You might well lose your last meal and your appetite will be ruined for an extended period.

Something to think about for all North Americans and our wonderfully good sense to have been born here: youtu.be/9xJEojWXOJs?si=Vriq…
Michael Harris has not been a fan of the Conservatives' neo-liberal or populist politics. Likewise Canadians if election results are any measure. So, do the Tories stick with what they've got now? Or? And what would 'Or' look like? hilltimes.com/story/2025/06/…
For those reacting to my earlier post on Canada's inflation rate:
Mr. Poilievre...early and often...blamed the Liberals for Canada's inflation rate. So now...a compliment?? Waiting. Waiting.
How one person saw the meeting between PM Carney and President Trump. A quiet 'win'. notesfromthecircus.com/p/mar…
Well, that was a strange one. Much unpacking to do on the results of the general election, but given the nature and scope of the challenges Canada faces, it could just be that the Conservatives are relieved they don't have to actually follow through on their promises.
If you live in BC, yours truly will be joining CITY TV's election night coverage. Per my previous post, the big number of 'toss-up' ridings will make this a nail-biter!
Huge number of 'toss-up' seats in Alberta and BC...prime time for strategic voting, all you ABC-ers.
( ABC = Anything But Conservative)
Conservatives face criticism for politicizing the tragedy for Filipinos in Vancouver. Mr. Poilievre just couldn't resist. youtu.be/qVhiNmipk-g?si=CAaY…
Way back when, I was on the radio at CKX Brandon Manitoba...as 'true blue' conservative area you'll find on the prairies. But today, The Brandon Sun is calling this election 'A referendum on Poilievre' -- one that he's losing: brandonsun.com/opinion/2025/…
If Mr. Poilievre had to have a last-minute 'Hail Mary' rally in his own riding...this might be a reason.
Pierre's plan would cut 100,000 public service jobs over 10 years, at a time when we need all hands on deck to defend our country from Donald Trump's trade war. Carleton, you deserve better. Monday is Election Day. Make your vote count.

Calling it 'DEI' masks an important value. It's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. Pierre Poilievre has problems with the concept of fundamental fairness... and he's planning Trump-like moves against it if Conservatives form government: theglobeandmail.com/politics…
