Insanity confirmed just minutes ago by AP: two commercial ships were just attacked by drones in NATO member Bulgaria's EEZ.
One ship sank on the spot. The other is on fire. Several crew members are missing and others are grievously injured. The Bulgarian government convened an emergency meeting.
This is the first attack on shipping in Bulgaria's economic zone in the Black Sea.

BREAKING: A large-scale search-and-rescue operation is underway in the Black Sea after drones struck two vessels inside Bulgaria’s Exclusive Economic Zone the first reported attack of its kind in Bulgaria’s EEZ.
The Palau-flagged ABLE had departed Romania and was bound for Turkey when it was hit. The vessel caught fire, forcing all 18 crew members to abandon ship. They were rescued by the Bulgarian-flagged ferry DIOSCURIA, with several sailors reportedly injured and given first aid.
The Togo-flagged ALFA WATAN was sailing from Turkey toward Galați, Romania, when it was struck. The vessel suffered critical structural damage and sank east of the Bulgarian coast. The fate of its crew remains unknown, and a major search operation is continuing.
Prime Minister Rumen Radev has convened an emergency meeting with representatives of state institutions following the strikes a statament is expected shortly.

The USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) has pulled into Phuket, Thailand for it's first port call since deploying in March.
There is one carrier in CENTCOM at the moment, USS George Washington (CVN 73). Over the week we've seen waves of aircraft leave the Middle East with no replacements inbound. A significant amount of the B-1s left this morning.

For those who keep asking me if the US is going to start hitting Iran again soon:
- Bush carrier strike group is heading away from CENTCOM (possibly for R&R as @mercoglianos suggests)
- @MATA_osint tracking shows CENTCOM has dropped below 100 aerial refuelling tankers for the first time since March 2026
- Overall tanker numbers down to ~165 from a peak of 232 during the war
- Fairford bomber fleet now rarely flying training sorties into the Mediterranean, opting for shorter runs in UK/N Atlantic airspace
- Fast-jets being rotated (with mostly F-16s being sent into CENTCOM)
- Electronic Warfare/Attack aircraft numbers reduced (for now) - down to 7x EA-18G (on land) and 1x EA-37B (which I understand is expected to leave soon too)
- Politicial willpower in the US shifting given the upcoming midterm elections & an ongoing possibility of Operations in Cuba in the coming months
- Very public assessment that anti-air and anti-missile defence kit is depleted and production isn't as high as it needs to be
- Emphasis being made on the naval blockade of Iran and economic sanctions
My assessment is that while the US resuming strikes on Iran is possible at any moment, it is looking increasingly unlikely in the short-mid term at least

Baikalsk municipal admin warned residents NOT to travel to the area where the lab accident occurred, then deleted the info ~2 hrs later. Local REN TV deleted 5 posts about the accident. Local journalists who reported on the accident yesterday appear not to have not written any updates since.
Pneumonic plague is 100% fatal if not treated with antibiotics within the first 24 hours of symptoms. The biggest question being suppressed: have there been any more deaths from plague?
The US State Dept lists Russia as having an illegal bioweapons program, one of 2 nations (N. Korea is other). Genetic modifications / bioweapons engineering more likely done at Obolensk and Vector (in a BSL-4 lab), but this is impossible to know for certain.

It also means Russian authorities are treating the lab accident and plague outbreak as a national security issue, involving a lot more than routine public health.
