I cant tell if this is a translation error or if Jules Verne actually refers to Giant Squid as octopi
As seen by the Nanaimoteuthis paper earlier this year, even people working in science can sensationalize their discoveries to generate public attention.
Replying to @HodariNundu
We actually have quite a few more marine temnos, the paper hypes it up a little too much.
Arctobatrachus from this year for example. Same family but much larger
Im not trying to disparage the researchers work, it is an important discovery, as most relatively complete fossils are. Rather that additional research about a newly discovered species relatives can be highly useful for understanding an discovery, especially if exaggerated.

“The order of all things. May justice roll down like water, may the winds shake and destroy the greatest of monuments. Heaven shall hear our hymns and songs, and hell can take our lamentations and tears.”
If this is a reference to 20000 Leagues Under The Sea, then I have to get this, because I love Jules Verne's books.
Piece featuring two of my posthumans. The First is the Deepsea Voyager, a massive deep diving predator of sharks and other cartilaginous fish. In the piece above, it depicts a mother driven to hunt marine mammals to fulfill her hunger.
