The #Sooners look to build off the momentum from beating No. 1 Texas tonight against No. 15 Kentucky. Here's my breakdown this morning on Gameday U!
A championship team deserves championship facilities. Today marked the groundbreaking for phase 2 of OU baseball's stadium renovation. I went live for @ounightly for the ceremony as a new future of Sooner Baseball is ushered in.
Two 4th-quarter interceptions powered the #Sooners past the number one Longhorns in the Cotton Bowl on Saturday. Peyton Bowen started things off with a 42-yard pick-six, then Courtland Guillory recorded his first interception as a Sooner to set OU up for a game-winning drive.
While not a highlight for the #Sooners, Freshman #HookEm WR Jermaine Bishop Jr. scored his first TD as a Longhorn vs. OU. The 15-yard reception would be his only on the day. Bishop was rated a 5-Star by @247Sports in high school and was their number 2 recruit in Texas for 2026.
The #Sooners scores their first TD against Texas since 2023 on a blocked punt recovered by Junior Dakoda Fields in the end zone. Fields would also record a tackle in the 27-24 win.
Also can't get enough of Sophomore #Sooners O-Lineman Peyton Joseph's reaction to the TD, before heading out for the PAT
Of course can't forget about the sack that set up the blocked punt. Taylor Wein credited for a 4-yard loss. it's his 2nd on the season.

Fourteen different current or former @OUNightly reporters covered the #RedRiverRivalry yesterday. Iām proud to say Iāve worked with 11 of those people. Seeing their hard work over the years get rewarded with covering a classic game like that makes it all worth it. Very proud!
Junior RB Lloyd Avant punches in the #Sooners first offensive TD against Texas since 2023 at the start of the 4th quarter. Avant would finish the day with 10 carries for 72 yards and this TD.
#Sooners WR Parker Livingstone sharing a moment with OU HC Brent Venables and OC Ben Arbuckle after the team's 27-24 win over the Texas Longhorns, Livingstone's previous team.
#Sooners Kicker Tate Sandell gets some air time with the Golden Hat following a 47-yard walk-off field goal to put OU past the Texas Longhorns 27-24.
"Ain't no other option" #Sooners HC Brent Venables shares a moment with Reggie Powers III and other members of the OU defense before donning the Golden Hat for himself. Powers finished the day with 6 total tackles in the 27-24 win over the Longhorns.
Here's the full cut of #Sooners QB John Mateer riding the Sooner Schooner to the 50-yard line of the Cotton Bowl. Mateer was 18/26 for 155 yards, including 13 and 20 yard passes with 19 seconds left to set OU up for a walk-off field goal to stun the Texas Longhorns 27-24.

Tate Sandell was fired up after the #Sooners took down No. 1 Texas. Doesnāt get any better than kicking a game winner as time expires in the Red River Rivalry.
