My original thought when the Sharks signed Brett Leason would be that he would eat into Ethan Cardwell's playing time this season. However, the Barracuda are so ravaged with injuries at forward that it certainly won't. This weekend evidenced how much they need both and more.

I'm tired of this expectation that you have to give the ball to a little kid. If you catch the ball, it's yours. If you want to give it to a kid, that's a nice thing to do but it's not a requirement.
My hockey game is at 11:15pm tonight. I legitimately asked Joe Thornton if he wanted to play with us. Naturally, he passed.

Alex Ovechkin announced to his teammates this morning that this season will be his final in the NHL
Barracuda had a pretty sloppy overtime for puck management. The chemistry isn't there yet. Nonetheless, Roland McKeown decided to do it himself and rushed down the left, challenged the slot, and got around the sprawled Damian Clara for the overtime winner. Down 4-2, SJ won 5-4!
John McCarthy has changed the defense pairs in the third period and so far it's easily been their best half-period of hockey this season.

Damian Clara gives up an absolutely ridiculous percentage of rebounds. I'd love to see the stats because it feels like 95% or higher. If the Barracuda can better control their movement to the net in the third period, they should be able to rack up at least three goals.

Eric Comrie's stat line is going to finish very poorly today but he's been the most effective Barracuda player. The Cuda have lacked discipline most of this third period and the Gulls have capitalized. #SDvsSJ
For not having a training camp (he did practice though), I think Mattias Hävelid has been quite great for the Barracuda today. It must be his new jersey number.
Eric Comrie with 16 saves in the first period. His biggest, by far, was the sprawling blocker save after James Hamblin fell into him and knocked him into the net. No score after 20 minutes. #SDvsSJ
Donovan Houle took exception to James Hamblin driving the crease hard three straight plays. Hamblin's a little bugger and I love it. Got nothing wrong with Houle tossing him around either.

Sad news: Former Penguins defenseman Lyle Odelein died at age 58.
Odelein settled in Pittsburgh after retirement. A 1993 Stanley Cup champion with the Canadiens, Odelein endured major health struggles after he was pricked by a cactus while golfing in 2018.post-gazette.com/sports/peng…
