If you insist.
A list of some of the finest food the city has to offer, not all of it is bougie, it's just good.
A couple of disclaimers: This isn't even close to exhaustive, there's a ton of food in this city and a lot of it I have not tried. Obviously food is subjective, just because I like it, doesn't mean you will and vice versa. This list only contains things I have found "above average to god tier"
Not all found in the last year, but Kevin (and often Bruce) McCurdy approved.
<Vietnamese>
Thanh Thanh Oriental Noodle House, my king of Vietnamese and fusion cooking. (101 St and 107 Ave)
Mini Mango (South of Ellerslie at 91st)
Mai Mai Viet Street Kitchen (23rd ave and 142nd St)
Saigon Taste (Stony Plain and 114 st ish)
Co Do Hue (several locations)
Da Kao Bistro (170 St and 95 Ave)
Dang Good (118 Ave and just west of St. Albert Trail)
Pho Hoan Pastuer is always an ok fallback.
Halong bay makes this list because their Pho Sate is almost as good as Thanh Thanh's.
I could make my own catagory for Bahn Mi, but Thi Thi's in Calgary is king. Mini Mango has lethal Bahn Mi as well. I have a massive soft spot for Viet food and I often have trouble branching out to other ethnicities that I should pay more attention to (Thai for example) as a result.
<Thai>
(not as much experience here many places to go check out)
Siam Thai (several locations, though I hit is at 137th ave and St. Albert Tr.). Their Tom Yum is fabulous.
Songkran Thai (St. Albert Tr and Sturgeon Rd, St. Albert)
<Chinese>
Good luck (as in good luck finding good chinese, there's a ton of "mid" in this catagory.)
One that comes to mind is Lingnan, though I haven't been in years.
<Ramen>
Kazoku (165 st and 105 Ave)
Menya Mori (124 st and 102 Ave)
Tokiwa (Stony Plain Rd and 118 st or so, Brewery District)
<Pizza>
Pizza Garage (St. Albert, expensive but worth)
<Burgers>
Jack's Burger Shack (2 locations, though I've only been to the St. Albert location)
JOEY actually makes a mean cheese burger
CRAFT Beer Market
Shiddy's (99th and just off whyte)
Rockin Robyn's (166St. and 109 Ave) This could go in about 5 catagories, but the Betty White is a ludicrously good burger.
<Fried Chicken>
Seoul Fried Chicken (Multiple locations, OG Whyte and 104 St)
HM to Northern Chicken (RIP)
<Donairs>
Swiss Donair (the "Xerxes, God King" of Donairs)
Donair Station (172nd st and 95th ave)
Simon King (91st St and 51st Ave)
Simply Donair (both locations)
DK Donair Factory and Restaurant (these are NOT Halifax donair, this is German Doner Kebab) (St. Albert)
<Shawarma>
Jerusalem (if you want an actual wrap, their Fattoush is .... not good)
Al Salam Pita Bakery (their Fattoush is incredible, and they have better platters IMO)
<Sit down pub/bar/etc>
Local (their Dragon Chicken is lit AF).
Leopold's Tavern (Whyte and Gateway)
Campio Brewing (109 St, South of Stony Plain Rd.)
<Italian>
Amore Bistro (108 st and 106 Ave)
San Remo Italian Bistro (St. Albert)
Nello's (St. Albert)
<Sandwiches>
Pals (Whyte Ave)
D'Amore Italian Deli (127th St, and about 129th Ave)
Mercato
Donnas (if oversized sandwiches are your vibe) (Boonies, Winterburn)
<Breakfast>
Hap's (Stony Plain Rd and about 163rd st.)
Hathaway's Diner (2 locations)
Socrates (St. Albert)
<Greek>
Koutouki Taverna
Little Village
<Other>
Taste of Ukraine
I am sure there's a million places I'm missing, forgot about, haven't been to, etc.
Uncle Patrick.
That sort of says it all doesn't it? 🥹
That's enough October, we'll try again next month.

The fish has been around that long that it participated in all three SCF Canuck losses riots
A woman from St. Louis booked a single day of fishing in Canada, her first time ever on that river, and pulled up a fish her guides think is more than 100 years old.
It's over 11 feet long, and it'll never make the record books. In British Columbia it's illegal to lift a sturgeon that size out of the water, so nobody can put it on a scale.
The official world record is a 468-pounder from 1983.
This one got sized up with a tape measure instead. Sixty inches around the middle, run through a length-and-girth formula, comes out to roughly 1,100 to 1,200 pounds. It had also never been caught or tagged before, so it spent its whole life in a busy fishing river without anybody landing it.
If the age guess is right, it hatched into a river that had just been gutted. In 1897 the Fraser gave up about 1.1 million pounds of sturgeon. By 1905 the catch was down to around 44,000. The canneries were after caviar, so the big females went first, with some of the roe shipped to Russia of all places. Problem is, a Fraser female doesn't spawn until she's about 26, and after that only every 4 to 10 years. Every egg-heavy fish they pulled was a quarter century of growing the river couldn't replace. First Nations fishermen warned the cannery owners it would crash, and by 1905 it had.
That fish then made it through decades of commercial nets until B.C. banned keeping sturgeon in 1994. A female that hatched the year of the ban would've only hit her first spawn around 2020.
Funny thing is, nobody can actually prove the age. You age a sturgeon by slicing a fin ray and counting rings like a tree stump, and when USGS researchers tested that on fish whose real ages were known, the readers' consensus matched only about 31% of the time, and got worse the older the fish was. So "over 100" is an educated guess on a fish nobody had ever measured.
Sturgeon outlasted the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs, and Fraser River caviar almost got them in eight years.
Anything other than a multi-game suspension is insufficient here. Absolutely reckless and stupid hit.

Patrick Stewart, who will be remembered most for his roles as Captain Jean-Luc Picard on “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and as Professor Charles Xavier in the “X-Men” films, has died at 86.

I don't even have words. Very few actors touch your life on a truly personal level. The world has lost a giant of theatre and film. Rest well, Captain.

Just a note there is a TV provider plan linked version of this Sportsnet+ bullshit that is a measly (/s) $12.99 and not that horrific 30+ bullshit.
PS. @Rogers this a bullshit strategy, just charge me more for my cable package you greedy fucks, at least then the only pain would be my wallet and not 20 extra steps. Also your app is trash.
Frederic & Howard will be injected into the #Oilers lineup while Jarry starts between the pipes against Detroit.

I would be recalling Carfagna sooner than later, also waiting to see if there is any injury to Walman from his unscheduled meeting with the boards.
I saw my friend @KevinMcCurdy post some alarming line stats. How about the Muk/Emberson pairing?
