It's litterly been the modus operandi of the USA for... well... basically ever.
Maybe now you can see it more clearly or at least you believe you can.
People in the right (or wrong) places have seen it through essentially every presidential admin in modern times.
Social media, prediction markets, AI, all make the evidence easier to find or it helps make the data fit easier into your narrative.
Power likes to be kept. If you are in power you do what you feel is warranted to keep it.

If AI Agents are smart enough to audit, then the future is more likely one where the AI Agents pre-check and vett income sources and the taxpayer is simply required to confirm.
Depending on your view of taxes and the processes involved this is either good news or bad news.
Unrealized capital gains tax is next level stupidity on the surface.
If the goal is to alter the census in near real-time for 'whatever reason' it's a very evil genius at work.
Either way one lesson is to gleaned: politics are politicking like never before.

This is materially no different than politicians front running the market on insider info, taking consulting jobs and speaking gigs for far more than their presence is worth, and all the other flavors of back door deals that happen in every admin. Crypto is just obv to those in the market. However wall st will tell you the entire manipulation game of tradefi is just as obv.
