Another agency using state dollars to fund a fragile system they don’t understand. Look what happened with the California insurance program
Californians have approved a new homebuying assistance program that will let people purchase newly built homes with just 3% down instead of the standard 20%. trib.al/5WnfBA1

Claude made me an election war room that refreshes every day at 5pm. Looks like the margin is tight, and counting continues through November. Rooting for @dtmorgan18 and Steve Smith and Mike Buley. Local politics can be fun when we all work towards improving the community

And for anyone that asks, Daniel isn’t in my district and I have no benefit other than someone in the city with experience and common sense helping run the show.

A city near me just passed a tax where a company making $30M revenue goes from paying a $200 business license to a $15k business license

But why?
Only 22% of baby boomers expect to leave an inheritance, and over half are explicitly planning not to, per a Northwestern Mutual survey. Meanwhile, more than half of Gen Z and nearly 60% of millennials say they’re depending on an inheritance to retire comfortably.

Although we can all agree a poor Covid response kicked off reactionary spending triggering inflation with no plan for economic recovery emphasizing growth of small business and the middle class.
Not matter who’s at fault, inflation causes people real pain every day

My first job in highschool was selling kitchen supplies to stay at home moms. I went to the local McDonald’s and the staff looked like one family that had the whole roster of positions. Maybe the franchisee hired their family members. Burger King application was name and phone number. Never got a call Albertsons, no interview, target, no interview, it was devastating as a kid to see grown ups hold three jobs and I had none. My first retail job was at Hollister doing stock because I wasn’t presentable enough to organize the floor. I worked that Black Friday too. My paychecks were 7 to 15 hours. Between 30 and 70 dollars per paycheck. On call with hours notice, entire weekends gone, to wait for that $50. It was 50x my allowance at home which was $2 per month, real numbers from 2010. I would sign up for bank accounts, put my bills through it and take the $400 promotional credit to pay for my textbooks when I got to college. In one semester I had 15 credit hours, a job at Wells Fargo as a teller, and I fixed phones on the side. One phone I fixed at the bank 😂 Wells Fargo gets hit with the account scandal. My quote was 5 signature visa premiere cards for 80 year olds on social security, with $100k limits and $500 annual fees. My boss was demoted even though it wasn’t his fault. When I was running my phone and computer repair biz I met a financial advisor that took a chance on me and hired me as his intern at his own expense. I couldn’t believe I was making $20/hour, it was the most rewarding hourly work I ever did. From there the internship turned into my first full time job, but I had to go get it and close it myself.

I was 18 years old and it was my first job as a legal adult. Selling cellphones. I knew every spec, the components, the manufacturers, the pipeline of products, the services. Right when iPhone 4s came out. I worked Black Friday, I achieved the highest sales in the entire district and won an autographed football form a cardinals player. I go in the next day and the manager I covered for reassigned my sales under his name and stole the commission and the prize. I had never seen a blatant theft amongst coworkers. I quit within the month and that was the last job I ever held with a sales focus.

Are brokers actually using AI effectively? Another Hot Take from the SIOR Fall Conference in NYC with my friend and fellow SIOR, David Skinner of Prescott. I asked David what he thinks people are getting wrong about AI in commercial real estate. His take? AI should be a tool to help brokers connect with clients and build relationships, not an end in itself. There's a lot of time being spent experimenting with AI, but how much of it is actually making us better at what we do? Curious what other brokers think. Are we using AI to move our businesses forward or just adding more noise? #SIOR #CommercialRealEstate #CRE #AI #HotTakes

Today I voted in person for the first time ever. I think the most shocking thing to me was that you can drop off any mail in ballot without showing ID to confirm that you’re the owner of that ballot. Literally the voting employee verbally confirmed their names and took the ballots. Also I had to scan in my own ballot into a computer. Californians, we don’t have to live like this
