I still remember when neo cons insisted that this war would be over and done with in a matter of days. And I remember when we told them it wouldn’t play out like that, and it would prove to be a massive blunder, and they yelled at us and called us “panicans” and traitors.

Judge Dave Larson (Ret.) has published an open letter to Washington voters to help you sort through the misinformation in this campaign.
A $1.5 million PAC funded by public employee unions and plaintiffs' trial lawyers is flooding your mailbox, phone, and social media feed with misinformation to turn you against Dave. As Dave noted, they're desperate to keep their hold on your courts.
The choice could not be clearer: vote for Dave Larson and return your courts to the people, or leave them under the control of narrow special interests. Dave selflessly came out of retirement to support you, while public employee unions, whose members are supposed to serve you, are spending millions in dues against you. Vote for Dave and send them a message: you own the courts, they don't!
Their message is that our Supreme Court races are partisan. They aren't. Washington's judicial races are nonpartisan for a reason, and as Dave lays out, the rights this PAC claims are on the ballot simply aren't. Those rights rest on voter-approved initiatives, laws, and precedent, not on any court decision.
"Our courts do not belong to partisan interests."
Dave spent 18 years on the bench deciding cases by the law, not by who funded his campaign. His letter sets the record straight, and it's worth five minutes before you vote.

The non-partisan tax foundation found that high income taxes hurt growth. It’s critical that Colorado voters reject Amendment 87 which would make Colorado the 9th highest taxed state. It’s not to late to vote No on amendment 87
States with no individual income tax (Florida, Texas, Tennessee, Nevada, and others) consistently rank among the strongest gainers, while states with the highest top rates (California at 13.3 percent, New York at 10.9 percent, and New Jersey at 10.75 percent) dominate the list of largest losers.

There are a remarkable number of political arguments that rely on:
a) politicians keeping their word
b) government bureaucracy working as promised
Given the consistent history of politicians and government, why would anyone believe either of those things? 1/2

Electricity rates in Washington state are climbing rapidly, with public and private utilities increasing rates by 30% over the next three years.
Who is to blame?
@jayinslee is correct. The biggest drivers of how much you pay comes from the state capitol. #waleg

Komo (Seattle Times took a pass on this story) covers the impact the unconstitutional income tax will have on philanthropy.
A couple of observations:
-The impact is real and the CEO of Seattle Children’s brings the receipts
-The Seattle Times refusal to carry the op-ed is shameful
-We should all be talking about this because ST broke the story looking out for the public not because the CEO had to get around them to get the story out
-Bob Ferguson is clearly caught flat footed by the question and gives a “squirrel!!!” Answer
-Jamie Pedersen is baking more pie-crusts.. oh don’t worry we will fix it
-The unconstitutional income tax was written with so much haste and with no real input or concern for the negative impacts that we will continue to find sulphur filled easter eggs as we watch businesses shut down or flee the state

Last month, I promised to check back in a month to see if the gap in gas prices between Washington and Idaho & Oregon would reflect the recent decline in the CO2 tax.
Indeed, the gap between WA and ID has declined by 20 cents per gallon - exactly as predicted. 1/2 #waleg
Replying to @WAPolicyGreen
In 2024, supporters of the CO2 tax told @SeaTimesOpinion that if the tax was removed, gas prices might not go down. I argued that this made no sense and offered to bet.
Well, with such a large decline - 20 cents per gallon - we can see if the gap between Washington and neighboring states like Oregon and Idaho, gets smaller over the next month. It will take some time for prices to filter through the system, so let’s all meet back here in a month and see what happened. 3/3 #waleg

It’s flat out impossible to take tax reformers promises seriously when the state decided to keep 70% of the income tax revenue.
If the legislature were serious about lowering other taxes while introducing new ones, they would’ve passed a dollar-for-dollar tax cut. Instead, they kept the revenue and will increase spending. #waleg
