This experience can be truly heart-wrenching and discouraging, especially considering he likely stretched himself thin financially just to make the trip. Wishing you strength, Champ. I encourage the chess community to reach out to him privately and see how we can help.
1. The 1st Sardauna Chess Tournament, Kwara. I came into this tournament with two major goals: to raise funds towards completing my UNIBEN clearance following my recent admission, and hopefully put something aside towards getting a laptop so I can begin learning a tech skill

It hurts, especially knowing what I came here hoping to achieve, but sometimes things don't go according to plan. Nevertheless, we move. This is only another chapter in the journey. A big thank you to the organizers for putting together a successful tournament. On to the next!

2. so I can begin learning a tech skill alongside my studies. Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned. I finished with 3.5/7, a performance far below my expectations, and lost almost all the rating points I gained from the South West Zonal Championship which is -83.

♟️🇳🇬 NCJ JUNIOR CIRCUIT 2027 — AN IDEA FOR THE NEXT GENERATION What if Nigerian junior chess players had a reason to compete all year, not just tournament by tournament? We're working on an idea: 🔥 The NCJ Junior Circuit 2027 A year-long competition designed to give Nigerian junior chess players a structured pathway to compete, develop and earn recognition based on their performances throughout the year. Players would earn Circuit Points from qualifying FIDE-rated classical tournaments across Nigeria, with stronger tournaments carrying more points. The goal? 🏆 Create a competitive national pathway ♟️ Encourage more classical chess 📈 Reward consistency and performance 🇳🇬 Give promising juniors more opportunities to compete 🤝 Build connections around young Nigerian talent At the end of the 2027 Circuit, the leading juniors in the different categories would have the opportunity to receive NCJ support for national competitions in 2028. This is still an idea we're developing. But we believe Nigerian junior chess deserves a system that doesn't just identify talent ,it helps talent keep competing. We're opening the conversation with individuals, companies and organizations who believe in creating more opportunities for the next generation. If you'd like to learn more about the idea or explore how you could be involved, our DMs are open. ♟️🇳🇬

Grateful to God for a successful tournament. 🙏♟️ tied for 2nd overall with 5.5/7 points, and I’m happy to have crossed back above the 2000 rating mark. A solid step forward and a reminder that the work is paying off. 💪
A new chess challenge begins. ♟️ I’ll be playing in the South-East Chess Classics, a 7-round FIDE-rated tournament in Umuahia, Abia State, from September 23–26. My chess journey hasn’t exactly gone the way I wanted recently. I dropped from 2100+ to 1987 after a series of setbacks

Final round at the South East Classics. ♟️ I’ll be facing Collins Tyowase, who currently leads the event. I need the win to tie for 1st place 🥇. It’s going to be a tough battle, but this is exactly the kind of game you play for. Time to crack some brains. 💪♟️
