Alcaraz '22 9-5 vs top 10s Zverev '26 3-9 vs top 10s This Masters title for Alcaraz in '22 was better than both of Zverev's GS titles combined.
If Zverev "doesn’t deserve" the 2026 Year-End No.1 due to Sincaraz’s injuries, then Alcaraz didn’t deserve it in 2022. The slams in 2022 is where the talking points lie: ▪️AO: No.1 Djokovic deported, missing his best Slam, which he had won 3 years in a row beforehand ▪️RG: Zverev suffers a horrifying injury, 2 wins away from becoming No.1. ▪️Wimbledon: No points awarded, due to Russian players being banned. (Including Medvedev, the No1 at the time). Djokovic won but got 0 points instead of 2,000. ▪️US Open: Alcaraz wins the title, and takes the No.1 spot. However, if Djokovic got his Wimbledon points, he only needed a QF in Melbourne to finish No.1. Something which was very possible for the man who had won the title 3 seasons in a row. He was stopped from participating due to non-tennis reasons. And Zverev? He was in pole position in 2022 until his heartbreaking RG injury. Now everyone claims Zverev just got lucky this year due to rival injuries. Why didn’t we hear the same narrative about Alcaraz in 2022? If anything, Djokovic being barred for non-tennis reasons makes 2022 an even bigger anomaly than Sincaraz's purely tennis-related injuries this year. I’m not suggesting that we should all start criticising Alcaraz. But if you’re going to criticise Zverev’s run to No1 this year, don’t be a hypocrite.

Dimitrov h2h vs '00s GS champions 5-42 (11%) vs '10s GS champions 17-53 (24%)
Grigor Dimitrov is living proof of just how much stronger the 2010s era was than the early 2000s. A player of his talent, athleticism and shot-making ability was constantly overshadowed by Novak and Rafa. Drop prime Grigor into 2001-2007 and he’d be racking up Slams alongside Federer.

This idiot talking abt Murray only ascended bc Djok was injured, then flexes the "Nole slam" where the only reason he won RG was bc Nadal withdrew with an injury. Little nicky talking abt Djok's "terrible elbow injury"... it was a bone bruise u clown.
This clown has no shame. Will not mention that Djokovic has a terrible elbow injury after Roland Garros which allowed Murray to overtake Novak. And I could still argue that Djokovic was still the best player in 2016 given he won 2 slams, won the sunshine double, became the only man to hold all 4 slams across all surfaces, longest ever grand slam win streak of 30 matches and amassing the most ever ATP points of 16,950. However, context and injuries only matter with Zverev

"A slam is a slam" These were won in the same season, Fed's '17 AO title (4 top 10 wins), Nadal's '17 USO title (0 top 25 wins). All slams are not equal, bc of this 24 is not > 22 is not > 20, that's a superficial zero-context argument.
“Vulturing” is one of the stupidest terms in tennis, in my opinion. It’s mainly used by fans of the Big 3, in attempts to diminish the Slams and success of the other 2. For example - many Novak fans claim Nadal vultured AO 22, because of the fact that Djokovic was not able to play. Meanwhile, many Federer fans claim that the Slams Novak won in 2023 were vultured, due to a lower playing field as there was no Nadal. And many fans also claim the same thing about Federer in the years prior to Nadal’s emergence. But here’s the truth. A slam is a slam. 128 players, 7 matches. Just because one big rival is absent from the event does not mean the title does not count. The playing field always changes - winning a slam in 2012 was harder than in 2023, or in 2004. But a slam from any of those eras counts for exactly the same. It’s time we start accepting titles for what they are, rather than always finding a way to bring another person’s accomplishments down.

A narcissist would think that way, but yeah you do need to explain this. And now being the only world no 1 in history to lose his first match in straights 😬
Alexander Zverev says he’s annoyed that he’s the only world No. 1 in history who has to explain why it’s ok for him to be world No. 1: “I was a bit annoyed the last couple of days because achieving the world No. 1 status is something I think every player dreams of. But then, I feel like I’m the only world No. 1 in tennis history that has to explain why it’s ok for me to be world No. 1… which I find quite difficult. Because I deserve to be where I am. I don’t think anyone has to explain themselves as much as I had to do in the last couple of days.”

"The balls are so slow, the courts need to be faster with these balls. I'm having 50 ball rallies out here. The courts are fast, we just need to play on faster courts if we're gonna play with these balls. When the CPI is "medium" with these balls it is unbearably slow" - Fritz

I honestly think that people who call Federer the goat are simply blinded by bias. Because in reality, he’s not even 2nd best. Novak Djokovic is in the lead for every major statistic other than Olympic Golds - so he is comfortably the best ever. So for 2nd place… when we compare all the major stats, such as Slams, Masters, Big Titles, and etc… well, Nadal has more of all of these than Federer does. The only statistics Federer leads Nadal in are time spent at No1, and ATP Finals titles. Every other major statistic, Nadal wins. In all honesty, Federer lost his argument in the goat debate several years ago. The only thing keeping it alive is a mix of bias and love for the great man.

There are multiple examples across all sports but the one that shows this the best is Barry Sanders, he has a career 15,269 rushing yds, while guys like Frank Gore (16,000) and E. Smith (18,355) have more... but who was the greatest rusher of all time? Barry.

Nadal is a one surface wonder who stacked his titles/numbers on that surface. He is not above Federer all time, on clay sure, overall no. GOAT debate isn't abt singular h2hs in a vacuum, and it's not abt totals, it's abt who was the best at their best, and that's Fed.

So this is a 37 yr old Federer vs a 31 yr old Djok... Imagine what a 31 yr old Federer would have done to a 37 yr old Djok.
They hide highlights like these because the myth of Federer being the greatest is more important than the reality of him being No. 3.
