BREAKING:
Former ASU QB Jeff Sims has accepted a rookie minicamp invite with the New York Giants, per agent Chris Rogers.
He chose NYG over another opportunity with the Chargers.
His jersey from the Iowa St. game (228 rush yds, ASU QB record) is in the ASU HOF.
Another legendary Pat Murphy recruiting story. 🔱
After a night out on his ASU recruiting visit, Eric Hosmer showed up to breakfast on about 20 minutes of sleep.
Murphy immediately knew:
"Hosmer, you're disgusting. You went out last night." 💀

Pat Murphy never forgot Mike Moustakas ignoring his recruiting calls at ASU. 😂
"You didn't even f***ing consider us!"
Moustakas then recalls a hilarious story from his USA 18U days when 25 teammates raised their hands after being asked who had full-ride offers from ASU.
Murphy's response: "Wide net."

Avery Johnson has made 32 consecutive starts for Kansas State dating back to the 2023 Pop-Tarts Bowl.
The last Wildcat QB to start before Johnson? Will Howard, who went on to lead Ohio State to a national championship the following season.
Mikey Keene once led the charge against ASU in one of the lowest moments of the Kenny Dillingham era.
Three years later, Keene has taken the reins of Dillingham's offense and will make his first start as a Sun Devil tomorrow against Kansas State.
After 25 years at Saint Mary's, it was going to take a special place for Randy Bennett to leave. The ASU job was exactly that for the Mesa native:
"You got power here at ASU. It's a powerful place, powerful school. You have a chance to be (amongst) the best of the best."
Molly Miller on the foundation established in Year 1 and the culture she's building at ASU:
"(It took) buy-in... It took hope. I had to recruit based on a vision and the potential.
We want to be the hardest team to play against, but the easiest team to love. What that means is we wanna be gritty and fierce on the court, but we're gonna be approachable. We're gonna be (active) in the community."
Great preseason test for Molly Miller and Co.
USC is No. 3 in ESPN's preseason Top 25, with superstar JuJu Watkins returning from injury.
The Trojans also feature National Freshman of the Year Jazzy Davidson and ESPN's No. 1 recruit in 2026, Saniyah Hall.
USC beat Arizona State 98-75 in a closed scrimmage, sources told @On3.
A FOX 10 station ID led straight into a Texas Tech pick six as Valley viewers waited for ASU vs. Texas Tech.
Connor Onion 🎙️:
“Welcome to Lubbock, TX, where you have your first points right away!”
A rude awakening for Sun Devil fans.

Pat Murphy, who led Arizona State from 1995 to 2009, is now the first manager in history to lead a team to the College World Series and Major League World Series.

Jon Gruden selects former ASU standout Keith Abney II as his latest "Gruden Grinder." 🔱
At 5'9", Abney was mocked by some as an early-round pick before falling to the Detroit Lions in the fifth round.
He returned to Arizona for his first NFL start and delivered: 6 tackles and his first career INT against the Cardinals.
The Matthew Mayich story was featured tonight on ABC's World News Tonight with David Muir.
The full segment also details the death of 21-year-old Texas A&M student Austin Stallman. He suffered heat stroke while running with a student group called the SEAL Platoon and died two weeks later. Stallman was training to eventually become a Navy SEAL.
Mayich, also 21, collapsed 41 days ago on Aug. 20 and remains on life support.
While not named directly, the Mayich family's statement is referring to longtime ASU assistant Alex Hicks, who remains on staff after Greg Powers was placed on administrative leave.
Some context on their relationship:
Powers and Hicks helped build ASU's varsity hockey program together. A 2019 story by @CraigSMorgan for The Athletic detailed how they worked out of Starbucks and their homes before they had offices. Their first recruiting trip together came in December 2014.
Amid early skepticism around Powers, Hicks defended him:
"He's a great hockey guy, he's a very smart business guy and he is going to do an unbelievable job."

New statement from Mayich family attorney Rob Carey to @abc15 today:
"On day one, we asked ASU to put the coaching staff on leave. That's a basic, routine step. Putting Powers on leave while his best friend of the last decade stays in charge of the locker room doesn't solve the problem. If ASU won't remove him, even just to err on the side of player safety, then the interim head coach it has promised should have the authority to remove anyone who poses a risk of retaliation against these players."
UPDATE: Matthew Mayich’s parents released a statement earlier today through family attorney Rob Carey:
"The players shouldn't have to worry about retaliation from the people they report to every day."
"We want this team to have a great season, and we'll be cheering for you."
"Mostly, we want accountability for what happened to our son, and we want his teammates to be safe."

NEWS: Alarming details from the 26-page letter sent by seven ASU hockey players to President Michael Crow and obtained by The Athletic:
• Players wrote that Matthew Mayich’s lips were gray before he became unresponsive. They never saw a staffer take his temperature.
• After Mayich left in an ambulance, HC Greg Powers allegedly told players they were “closer to making the Frozen Four” because Mayich “pushed himself to the maximum.”
• Former Green Beret Tim Ziesel, who led the workout, allegedly said, “Oh yeah, I forgot, you guys need water,” when Powers told him to give players a water break.

“We want more Cam Skattebos.”
Earlier this month, ASU AD Graham Rossini joined Ambassador @JeffFlake to discuss the changing landscape of college athletics.
Rossini credits President Michael Crow for ASU adding 202 scholarships across its 26 sports, rather than taking from other programs to accommodate football.
“We decided to add everybody and obviously take football to the maximum.”
