Forgot to mention this competition for kids to win a chess set - we're hoping to start learning how to play it over summer to give us focusing and strategy superpowers 💪 *Includes some of our kids' crazy chess piece designs to spark ideas...
It's #WorldChessDay. Enter our fun chess competition for a chance to win one of 10 chess sets. Chess is great for kid's brains and we think it makes a perfect #summerlearning activity. Find out how to enter and win: bit.ly/3eHzmpX

If you aren't a chess-playing family #WorldChessDay is a great excuse to get started. There are lots of good things about learning to play as a family, like modelling dealing with frustration, benefits of practice etc. Highly recommended!

Here's hoping we can all have a chilled summer. Well done everyone. What a team effort it's taken to get us all to this stage 🙌👍
A school year like no other comes to an end. We wanted to celebrate all the children, parents and teachers who dug deeper than they ever thought they would have to and found super-powers they didn't know they had, A big hi-5 from the Komodo team. You did it. #schoolsout #beproud

You’ll notice several different outfits in this guide to crafting a clock for learning to tell time - this is because many days were spent making different trial clocks until we finally nailed it. 👊💪
⏰ Time to practice time-telling skills! ⏰ Make your own crafty clock and get practising (also links to our online interactive clock if you aren't quite so crafty!) bit.ly/2VWTTR1 #icantellthetime #primarymaths #stemskills

Love this - you can find maths for kids everywhere. Setting the table is a great example as it teaches the concept of one-to-one correspondence. Got some more ideas for starting very young kids here bit.ly/2VXSGIY and these can be adapted as they grow...🌱🌳
Math Snack: When setting the table, gather information and make decisions. "Can you find out what everyone wants to drink? Let’s count how many people want milk and how many people want water." Also available in Spanish! familymath.stanford.edu/math…

My two massively struggled with learning how to tell the time - maybe because we don’t really use analogue clocks/watches any more? Anyway, here’s a guide specially for parents to help you help your kids with this tricksy little topic.
👇Brand new (free) interactive learning resource. Help your child learn - telling the time. A guide for parents, from introducing the concept of time to telling the time to the hour and half hour. #mathsskills #primaryeducation #primarymaths komodomath.com/blog/help-chi…

Household harmony - something to aim for 👀
Lockdown has meant spending more time with our families. While this has felt like a gift at times, the novelty may have worn off! 😂 We spoke to mental health charity @YoungMindsUK, who gave us their tips for household harmony during the pandemic. 👉 bbc.in/2Yw23Qu

Experiments with water - designing a boat that floats and counting how many coins it holds before it sinks. (Ignore the distracting battle scene on the ‘boat plan‘ and the Lego which works its way in to everything...)

Love this- my two get really frustrated when they don’t get things ‘right’ immediately, but I try to tell them that they’re like explorers, or detectives, trying to find the answer and that everything they try is helping them get closer. (It even works sometimes... 🕵️‍♂️)
Wow! We love this motivational reminder 🤩👏

My son went through a phase with his reading where his skills were developing rapidly but he hadn't the confidence to read "normal" storybooks. @ReadingChest was great to build his skills and confidence. #readingskills #primaryschool
Lots of children swapping reading books today - Reading Chest team rushed off our feet! #readingforpleasure #homeschooling #lockdownlearning @CollinsPrimary @OUPPrimary @RaintreePub
