What wonderful love the Father has bestowed upon us: we are His children! This is not a promise, but a reality here and now. As we celebrate All Saints’ Day, let's remember that holiness begins with living as God’s beloved children, growing each day in love, purity, and hope.

On All Souls Day and always, we pray for our deceased family members and friends and all the faithful departed. This is a spiritual work of mercy and an act of faith, hope, and love. May we honor our deceased loved ones by treasuring their memories and imitating their example as we pray: “Lord, grant them eternal peace and fullness of life!”

Where the saints are, we hope to be! Thus, see life here on earth merely as a pilgrimage and make daily growth in holiness your highest priority. Jesus promises that all who do so will be counted among the “blessed” and says: “ Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven.”

True greatness is found not in seeking recognition or places of honor, but in humility. In a world that encourages us to put ourselves first, He invites us to make room for others. Those who humble themselves will be exalted by God.

Jesus reminds us that compassion must always come before rigid rules and religious formalities. By healing on the Sabbath, He teaches us that love cannot wait. True faith is not measured by how strictly we observe rules, but by how generously we respond to human suffering.

Feast of Saints Simon and Jude, Apostles: Simon was known as the Canaanite or the Zealot; Jude was also called Thaddeus, the son of James, and inquired of the Lord at the Last Supper about his manifestation. The Lord answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.”

Before choosing His apostles, Jesus spent the night in prayer. He teaches us that every important decision should begin with listening to God. Prayer gives us wisdom, strengthens our faith, and prepares our hearts to bring His love and healing to others.

Jesus uses the image of a mustard seed (the tiniest of seeds) to teach us that the smallest sacrifices, good deeds, and acts of faith will, with God’s grace, multiply in ways we cannot imagine. With that assurance, there is nothing “too small” or insignificant you will do today.

Jesus’ compassion is greater than any rule or tradition. He sees a woman bent down by suffering and restores her dignity and freedom. True faith never turns away from human suffering. Love must always come first, for God’s mercy knows no boundaries.

Saint Anthony Mary Claret, bishop: ordained a priest, he spent many years traveling through the region of Catalonia preaching to the people. He established the Society of Missionary Sons of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary and, having become Bishop of Santiago in Cuba, he worked with great merit for the salvation of souls. On his return to Spain, he still endured many hardships for the sake of the Church, and died an exile among the Cistercian monks in Fontfroide Abbey near Narbonne in southern France.
