Islam does it again. Another deadly shooting on Friday, October 23, 2026, at a Greek Orthodox church in the village of Hamoud (also spelled Hammoud, Hmood, or Hmoud) in Jordan’s Karak Governorate.
three attackers who arrived by vehicle) opened fire during a funeral procession at St. George’s (or Hamoud) Greek Orthodox Church, where 150–200 people were gathered. They fired for several minutes from outside, taking cover behind walls/trees, then moved toward the entrance. Witnesses described sustained shooting, with some accounts of the attackers shouting “Allahu Akbar.” One was carrying an AK-47-style rifle and others handguns. CCTV footage aired on Jordanian state TV (Al-Mamlaka) showed the attack.
At least 7–9 killed (death toll rose as some of the critically wounded died) and roughly 34–40 injured. Most victims were reported as older adults in their 50s–70s and all or most were Christians.
It is important to make clear that this is not a religious war but an act of terrorism by those who practice Islam against unarmed peaceful citizens.
