This mechanism might regulate PARP inhibitor resistance: "Nucleophagy removes cytotoxic trapped PARP1".
Nat Cell Biol. 2026 Jun 2. doi: 10.1038/s41556-026-01961-5. Thanks to all co-authors and collaborators for this discovery; It is highly appreciated.
Nucleophagy of DNA lesions also plays a role in the removal of trapped PARP1. Please check our manuscript posted on bioRxiv: biorxiv.org/content/10.64898…
A great deal of credit for this work goes to our former PhD student, Gwennie Hoslett.
How does the SPRTN protease recognise DNA-protein crosslinks? This has now been resolved in our manuscript: biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
The ubiquitin chains are the central regulators of SPRTN protease specificity and enzymatic activity towards DNA-protein crosslinks.
We have a tenure-track professorship position in Cancer Biology focusing on genome stability, the ubiquitin system, and the animal/zebrafish cancer models: ntu.wd3.myworkdayjobs.com/en…
Congrats to our former PhD student, Dr Susan Kilgas, on her first authored paper as a post-doc in @ChowdhuryLab/@DanaFarberHarvard/ @harvardmed on the role of the long non-coding RNA NEAT1 in the regulation of 53BP1 function: nature.com/articles/s41467-0…

A great opportunity to start an independent research career.
The lab is thrilled to see our Critical Reviews and Perspectives article on the isolation and detection of DNA-protein crosslinks: doi.org/10.1093/nar/gkad1178 .
We hope it will help scientists select the right DPC isolation assay to address their questions.
There are two exceptional papers from the @belilab and @stingele_lab labs on how cells cope with RNA-protein crosslinks: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3795… and pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3795…
Congratulations to Cristiano Peron, our DPhil student, on his successful DPhil viva on the role of SPRTN protease in colorectal cancer therapy. We also thank his examiners, Profs Mark Middleton (left, Oxford), and Livio Trusolino (University of Torino).
It is also great to see the current (Pauline) and ex-Ramadan lab members (Marta, Shudong John) attending one of the most prestigious conferences in Genome Stability in 2023 (Fusion, Dubrovnik, Croatia) and they all get along very well.
Congratulations to our DPhil student Pauline Lascaux on her talk on the crosstalk between autophagy and DNA repair and the Grant Award (😀) at the 3rd FUSION Chromosomal Instability Conference in Dubrovnik, Croatia.

We have just completed our move to @MRC_WIMM. While half of the lab is on summer vacation, those who remained in Oxford seem quite happy taking care of the job of moving boxes and getting the lab in order.
My lab is thrilled to be near ubiquitin and genome stability experts: @VdangioE3lab, @ketanpatelimmo1, @Chapman_lab_UK, @DrAndyBlackford, and Peter McHugh. We're excited about potential collaborations on the ubiquitin regulation of DNA crosslink repair.
