So I had a photo op with @kevinwoo91 at GalaxyCon. I know everyone was doing little hearts but wanted to send a big heart out! #iriam #vtuber #envtuber #indievtuber #galaxycon2026 #galaxycon
Some pics from the other day before falling ill and crashing out, from Akihabara. Buildings are tall… detailed… and so many places full of amazing things to do. You can literally spend a whole afternoon in just one building let alone the endless labyrinth that is the Japanese cityscape.

The VTuber industry is smaller than it looks, and a lot of creators and industry people are connected behind the scenes. Word travels fast
How you react to not being chosen for The Wildcard Club (especially if that reaction involves talking down others who were chosen) or other audition type projects can stick around and affect future opportunities
Stay humble and keep putting yourself out there

Seeing a lot of folks speculate things with how this process went so I do want to shed some light on what this process more than likely looked like.
This is a small team of larger creators that needed to keep the selection process close to the chest so more than likely they couldn't pool others into helping select people. I think they wanted people to be more public about their audition videos so they could see creators early on as it trends on the platform and so then those creators can benefit from the project even if they weren't picked.
These creators are known for having busy schedules at least on the surface and from the perspective of those of us who are fans of their work. This means they may not have been able to see every video sent in. Kinda explains why they had such a long period of time for themselves to actually go through the talent pool.
For those of you that know of the show The Voice this was more than likely that same premise: you show up, you had someone in mind that you wanted as a kind of "coach," and you perform hoping that coach wants you. So if you sing more country (myself) and you audition, but none of them have a desire to lean into country then I am not getting picked even if I was a top 100 singer (I'm not. I'm hot ass with singing).
Want my advice? These are talented creators who saw potential in other talented creators. You can either choose to be a professional about this and take rejection with grace and maybe use this as not only an opportunity to grow but also as an opportunity to GROW (it's trending so post your videos as quote replies and express that you were happy you put in the effort to feel confident enough to want to be a part of any of these teams and how you admire them).
If you are choosing to be bitter about this then that speaks volumes about you. It also means that you are choosing to torpedo your chances anywhere else because you are being public about your rejection in a negative way.
ALSO why would anyone want you if you went in this admiring them and the project and wanting to actually be in a team just to not be picked and decide to 180 that whole narrative? It is incredibly toxic and you need to really adjust that behavior.
Anyways. I may have never applied, but I believe this is a good showcase of human behavior. How you respond to rejection speaks volumes about you and trust me people are reading EVERY. RESPONSE. Good luck 💀🤙

Please don't upload my fics to drives/whatever. You are always welcome to download my fics for personal use. But I specifically choose to host them on ao3 bc I like their tos and the way they run things.
It's against the tos anyway: transformativeworks.org/tos-…

All works are published on AO3 with the authors' consent and are authorized to appear **exclusively on this platform**. Please do not repost, redistribute, translate, or publish them anywhere else without the author's explicit permission.

I’m actually mad because it took all of five hours for people to start immediately turning on fic writers yet again. God forbid we pour our hearts and time into this hobby and don’t want to do it to a void? God forbid we don’t want our stuff reposted??
Ao3 has an actual ToS which explicitly states that any reposting or rehosting(google drive would be rehosting/publishing if shared) without the author’s expressed permission is against policy.
Tldr; people acting entitled and not respecting the rights and wishes of the authors.
This quoted post is unavailable.
What sucks even more is that by publishing these written works on these third party sites/drives with these links, this actually allows AI bots to access the writing giving them a legal in. Ie, user A50 published 60 files on their google drive and made it public as well as shared the link on the internet inviting people to view/read. The link and drive had AI protection or privacy enabled. By this route, the AI content crawlers can yank the data.
When queried, they would say it was taken from a legit open source. Google drive policies puts the responsibility on the individual user who publishes content. So it becomes a handful of needles in a container ship of haystacks.
Ao3 itself probably has anti-AI policies and robots files in place. But once the content gets off site and people publishes/shares… control is lost… through the actions of users not respecting the author’s wishes and the site’s policies.
It is weird that the authors are being attacked for asking for their works to not be stolen and published somewhere outside of what the original author wanted. And it is weird that people think a download button doesn’t come with terms and conditions.
The written word is every bit as important as the hand drawn image. Protect both from mass ingestion by AI companies without permission.

For those of you fighting writers who keep asking for their work to not be thrown around like candy…this is directly from AO3’s T&Cs.
tldr: if you don’t have direct permission, then you Don’t Have Permission.
