😵‍💫 It’s launch day for Super Headache! This iPhone app is the fastest way to record headaches to Apple Health. There's just one screen and one big button. You can start recording now and come back when it's over. And it's completely free! apps.apple.com/us/app/id1564…

How much water does Mastodon use every time you upload a video and it gets replicated into 10,000 different S3 buckets?

For the last month-plus I have moved all of my social media activity to Mastodon. It’s going great, I’m having more fun than I have in recent years on Twitter. I can’t tell you where to find me because of the draconian censorship here. Check my bio. I don’t plan to return here.

Some of y'all tweet like Mastodon was the billionaire that bought and skewered the community we built for 16 years.

🗣️ Mastodon servers aren’t like Discord: they’re not insulated social bubbles. You don’t need more than one account. Servers control content moderation for what their users post, and they pay the hosting bills. They’re more of a technical and financial abstraction than social.

If you don’t rely on the algorithmic timeline then you can easily replicate your entire Twitter experience on Mastodon.

Finally: it’s super easy to move to a new account or server. There are built-in features to have all your followers start following you at your new account; I did it last night. It’s a low-stakes choice. You can move instances once things settle down or you learn what you want.

There’s No relax champ. No relax when I’m on Twitter. I’m on 10 until the second I close the app. You relax!!

Have we considered that Elon Musk is a modern Andy Kaufman and that we are witnessing artistic genius? Hmm, have we?

Vibe check: mister dot computer as a domain name

Did we all really see Twitter existing as a functional public company for the next 60 years?

After spending a decade in the industry doing great work it's not demeaning at all to have the opportunity to continue be dictated by how recently you practiced leetcode exercises.

I have since seen someone I follow migrate their account from a public instance to a private one and I was automatically following the new one. Your choice of handle and instance is not set in stone! The instance will mostly affect your content moderation and your load times.
Replying to @KyleHughes
IMO choose your instance based on: - your desire to have that @handle@domain.com for a long time - your faith in the domain owner to exist for a long time - your faith in the domain owner to provide a fast and stable backend infrastructure for a long time
