Peer learning and Child-to-Child support help connect HLCs with primary schools, while Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) and microenterprises linked to the centres help strengthen their sustainability beyond partner support.
These efforts show how empowered communities can sustain learning opportunities for children and families.

👶🏽 🧩 The Director General Health Services, Prof. @olaro_charles, has this morning officiated the Government and Key Stakeholder Consultation, Review and Validation Workshop on the SPLASH 0–6 Implementation Plan at Golden Tulip Hotel, Kampala.
The initiative aims to improve the development and well-being of young children aged 0–6 years while strengthening caregiver well-being through responsive caregiving, Humanitarian Play Labs and a two-generation approach that supports caregiver resilience.
🤝 Organised by BRAC-Uganda in partnership with the LEGO Foundation, the two-day engagement is reviewing implementation approaches for the three-year SPLASH project (2027–2029) in Imvepi, Rhino Camp and Bidibidi refugee settlements.
The goal is to strengthen coordination, align interventions with government systems and improve access to quality early childhood development services in humanitarian settings.

At the heart of Kulea Watoto is the two-generation (2-Gen) approach, which supports young children alongside their parents and caregivers, recognising that children thrive when families are supported too.
The discussions will help strengthen implementation and improve outcomes for children and families.

A child's well-being cannot be addressed in isolation. Bringing different services together at the community level helps ensure that no aspect of their growth and development is left behind.
