Meet 2026 #ElevatingTheSafetyNet scholar Lorena Gonzalez. 🩺✨ Now attending the @dgsomucla David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, Lorena hopes to combine clinical medicine with digital health, education and policy to address social determinants of health and improve access to care for underserved communities. Each year, L.A. Care’s *Elevating the Safety Net* Scholarship Program provides eight aspiring physicians with full medical school scholarships. By reducing the burden of medical school debt, the program gives community-minded physicians greater freedom to pursue careers serving low-income and medically underserved communities rather than allowing financial pressures to shape where they practice. For Lorena, that means staying focused on her goal of caring for patients during their most vulnerable moments while helping shape a health care system that better serves communities across Los Angeles County. 💙 Learn more about the 2026 scholars: spr.ly/6018BGsAJj #ElevatingTheSafetyNet #ESNScholar #FuturePhysician #MedicalSchool #HealthEquity #LosAngeles #LACareHealthPlan

L.A. Care employees kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month by coming together at the 80th anniversary of the Mexican Independence Day Parade in East Los Angeles.🎉 Members of our LatinX Collective affinity group spent the day celebrating culture, community and tradition alongside their colleagues and neighbors. From mariachi and bandas 🎶 to traditional performances, colorful floats and local food, employees enjoyed their time together with laughter, storytelling and screaming “VIVA!” each time they were prompted. Through accessible education, associated initiatives and thoughtful programming, the LatinX Collective affinity group aims to support the communities it serves both internally and throughout L.A. County. We’re proud to see our employees building community with one another while celebrating the vibrant cultures and traditions represented across Los Angeles County. ✨ #HispanicHeritageMonth #LatineHeritageMonth #MexicanIndependenceDay #EastLA #LatineCommunity #LACareHealthPlan
