LA Voice mourns the passing of Dolores Huerta. Here in California, she organized alongside farmworkers and their families to help people reimagine what they could demand, and win. May God receive her beside still waters. May those who carry on find strength in one another.

Crecer en El Salvador en los ’70 no fue fácil.  La inestabilidad política y la incertidumbre laboral plagaba a mis amigos y a mí.  Era fácil sentirse abrumado e impotente.  Pero mi madre, mis tías, y mi abuela nunca cedieron.

En mi familia, “tu voto es tu voz” colgaba en el aire como un coro poderoso y nos mantuvo soñando acerca de un mejor futuro.  Nos impulsó a movernos. Yo siempre digo: si podemos hacer un cambio, hagámoslo. Espero que te mudes conmigo esta temporada electoral.
