Had a fun morning volunteering in a 2nd grade classroom and talking about what it’s like to be a scientist as well as the importance of washing hands! I love talking to kids about my job and the impact that science has on the world!

En route to #PCFRetreat25--my first without Felix. Rewatched this incredible session from last yr: pcf.org/2024-scientific-retr… What a tribute by Amina and Misha, and Felix's words about the @PCFnews community are so meaningful. "Behind every study, there's always a patient like me"

The GENI panelists @PCF_Science #PCFRetreat25 emphasize a multipoint, intentional approach to navigating uncertain times: •Science communication — Be intentional and inclusive. Engage with humility, actively listen, respect differing viewpoints, and ground conversations in facts rather than assumptions or emotion. •Resilience — Stop glorifying urgency. Prioritize mental well-being. Create intentional space to regulate emotions—whether that means a screaming booth, batting cage, or quiet reset—so frustration is not misplaced. •Vulnerability as strength — Allow yourself to feel. It is okay to cry. Vulnerability is not weakness—it is a temporary state, and you will rise again. •Proactive and action-focused empowerment — Don’t just name problems—move toward solutions. Invest in coaching, mentorship training, allyship, and structures that build self-advocacy, self-empowerment, and self-efficacy. Be inclusive, be deliberate, and focus on action, not stagnation. Drs. Susan Slovin, Elizabeth Heath, Kara Marshall, Lorelei Mucci, Lisa Chesner.

Androgen receptor inhibition and MHC class 1 expression in #ProstateCancer. @LChesNerd @UCSF joins @AndreaMiyahira @PCFnews to discuss the relationship between androgen receptor inhibition and MHC class I expression. Dr. Chesner describes how her team used a whole-genome CRISPRi screen to identify the androgen receptor as a top regulator of MHC class I expression, with AR suppression significantly increasing MHC levels. #WatchNow > bit.ly/3GhjWwa

🚨 We need your help! 🏛 This Tuesday, March 11, 2025, Congress will begin votes on a continuing resolution that includes a devastating 57% cut to the Department of Defense’s Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program. The Prostate Cancer Research Program has been instrumental in developing most of the cutting-edge treatments our community relies on today. These massive proposed cuts would severely jeopardize the future of prostate cancer research. Make your voice heard! The lights in our lab didn’t work yesterday morning. In a way it was a sign that we lost the biggest light in our lives. @felixfengmd was my mentor in work and in life, and I am a better scientist and person for having been trained by him. His legacy will live on in all of us 💙
