Holy shit. It’s going to be a bloodbath for Republicans.

β€œLook inward” I am already well aware of Canada’s shortcomings. I certainly don’t need an American to tell me about my own history. All you care about is feeling better about yourself. Marginalized Canadians are a tool you weaponize to cope with your insecurity.
Replying to @LLCBCer
this is the shit that canadians do, they will never look inward when criticized and will always deflect to β€œmuh america”

Can we just be honest here? You don’t care about Canada being β€œracist” or whatever, you’re just envious of our better reputation. The only β€œinjustice” which actually bothers you is your hurt American ego.

It’d be nice if these β€œdifficult and unpopular” decisions were actually good such as keeping Bill 44, but instead it’s likely just budget cuts and breaking their promises on lower taxes that they never planned to follow through with anyway.

Doerkson isn’t even the premier yet and the culture warriors are already making demands lmao. They’re going to want a lot more than repealing SOGI. I hope Doerskon is prepared for this!

This is going to be a government of NIMBY pandering boomer slop, but at least we’ll have some classy tweets from the premier.

Can’t wait for the first day of the new B.C. legislature when Lorne shows up wearing pants and the media tells me this is why he’s a professional guy with standards

Everyone's falling over themselves praising Doerkson's civility and vibe, but one of his first acts is cancelling B.C.'s Be Nice To Gay People optional school curriculum, as a gay friend calls it.
There’s nothing to cancel or roll back. SOGI is not curriculum but a set of optional evidence-based resources for teachers who believe in creating safe & inclusive classrooms for everyone, which is what the BC Human Rights Act and Canadian Charter of Rights & Freedoms requires.

β€œWe can’t stand with hate, which is why I am endorsing a Republican.” Genuinely insulting to the intelligence of everyone. Just be honest and say AES is a jackass and you’re doing this out of spite.
STEVENS: "My vote for Senate will be for Mike Rogers because we have to stand with country. We can't stand with hate, we can't stand with Hasan Piker... I stood with my party and I was booed off the stage."

Yes I know I harp about this a lot, but man do these results in Metro Vancouver make me nauseous. It looks like a result from the 2000s. All of the inroads the NDP made here for two decades… just gone. Eby squandered it all.

The media’s obsession with Doerkson is getting old. He didn’t give her his kidney, it’s just a Twitter post, an extremely standard one that every premier in the country would make!
Classy response from BC's premier-designate. Very classy. #bcpoli

The hubris after winning one election is insane. Past β€œright-wing” govts succeeded because they relied on heavy support from the centre. If you think Conservatives can just win by default because BC is β€œright-wing” you’ve made a fundamental miscalculation.
Geoff Russ: B.C. is a right wing province. The NDP was merely a chaotic interlude nationalpost.com/opinion/geo…

I feel like a revived BC Liberal is more likely to flop than succeed. People don’t necessarily want The Liberals, they want Mark Carney. If you can find a Mark Carney, then the New BC Liberals have potential. If not, their fate is probably more like the Van Liberals or CentreBC.
Following the very exciting election results on Saturday, please see my statement attached.

Eby can come across to a lot of people as a 'woke social justice academic' - and they just broadly assign 'socialism' to a whole ton of that. And as we've said, Eby's incompetence as a communicator meant he wasn't able to untangle that mess and carve out a different identity.

I think this is a preview for how the next four years are going to go. Doerkson himself will want to govern relatively moderate, but the pressure from the base to bring in big right-wing change will be immense and I don’t know if Doerkson will have the nerve to defy them.
This is false. Read his quote. CTV is making things up in an attempt to divide conservatives. The ideological, unscientific tanker ban that is arbitrarily applied to one region of the country and not others, has always been opposed by conservatives.

Dix and Farnworth would be good, but I’m kind of hoping for Ma here. She’s someone I could see being a major contender for leadership in the future, I’m curious to see how well she can play the role of opposition leader.

β€œIf turnout was similar to 2024 the NDP would have won” Pure conjecture. IMO it’s more likely that the demographic which votes the most (boomers) liked Doerkson better which is why lower turnout didn’t sink CPBC vote totals significantly compared to 2024.
Replying to @LLCBCer
One riding isn’t representative of the whole picture. If turnout was similar to 2024 the NDP would’ve gotten near a majority if not a majority. But the real issue is that people weren’t motivated to vote for them and that includes non voters AND now conservative voters
