Since the start of the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, 112 health workers have been infected with the Bundibugyo virus, 35 of whom have tragically lost their lives in the line of duty. The recent infection of a U.S. humanitarian worker in Bunia is a powerful reminder: those who risk everything to protect us must be protected themselves. Africa CDC stands with the Governments of DRC and Uganda, working through the Continental Incident Management Support Team (IMST) and @_AfricanUnion Member States to ensure frontline responders have the personal protective equipment, training, safe working conditions, and sustained support they need.
