I was always an Alan Jones fan. He led and finished second in the first F1 race I attended, the 1976 Race of Champions. After he won the Austrian GP the following year I wrote him a letter - the home addresses of drivers had been published in an Italian magazine - and he replied with a signed picture. I was lucky enough to get to know him in 1987 when I was covering sportscars and he was racing for TOM'S Toyota. It's easy to forget now that in 1979-'81, armed with the iconic Williams FW07, he was the man to beat. A top guy who deserved more recognition.

Following Sir Winston Churchill’s death, his widow Clementine received many letters.
One particularly poignant,
“That he died is unimportant, for we must all pass away. That he lived is momentous to the destiny of all. He is not gone. He lives wherever men are free.”

Game recognises game. Greatness recognises greatness. What an image and what a mark of respect. The youngest world champion in history and a driver whose talent we have only begun to see the surface scratched. Maturity beyond his years. This is just the start. Grande Kimi.

And there are many on the western left who call the Iranian theocracy the good guys and "on the right side of history", in spite of this.

In plain words, GROW UP!
do not let yourself be reduced to the status of audience at a magic show, uncomprehendingly clapping as machine intelligence creates parcels of astounding knowledge. all of this is for us, to be understood by us, to sate our own curiosities. it's all really happening

Cosmic neutrinos with extremely high energies are very rare, so an enormous volume of ice is needed to observe an adequate number of collisions. The IceCube Neutrino Observatory covers an entire cubic kilometre and was finished in 2011. Researchers soon discovered the first high-energy neutrinos and, a few years later, could publish their discovery of neutrinos that must originate far outside our solar system. The search for the universe’s neutrino sources could begin in earnest.
Francis Halzen has received the 2026 #NobelPrize in Physics for his decisive contributions to the IceCube Neutrino Observatory and the discovery of high-energy neutrinos of astrophysical origin.
