As a news aggregator, I thought Twitter was best. Now it's broken beyond repair. Major news insights were replaced w/ fever swamp conspiracies & hate. My feed is 70-90% far right trolling, including Elon. Twitter may not die but, for me, this product was destroyed.

Trump just said immigrants are "poisoning the blood of our country" and vowed to clear it of leftist "vermin." It's probably culturally predictable that American fascism is so low brow and lazy it recites Hitler and Mussolini without even reaching for a thesaurus.

At least one was a terrorist so it's cool.
Oops my car just terminated a pod of human shields on their way to kindergarten

.@HouseGOP members praying on the House floor offends both our Constitution and the New Testament, which denounces public displays of devotion. The blasphemy of the new Speaker, who says God ordained him, is just as disgusting.

Hamas does not = Palestinians. Thus, calling Hamas’s actions terrorism is not anti-Palestinian. Israel does not = Jews. Thus, calling Israel’s actions genocidal is not anti-Semitic. You can disagree w/either claim I suppose (though it’s absurd to do so), but neither are hateful.

If cutting all food, water, fuel and medicine to 2.2 million people for 18 days, while pulverizing Gaza and killing 5800 people, including 2100 children, is “saving innocent lives” I’d hate to see what the alternative looks like.
At the heart of our efforts to save innocent lives in this conflict – and every conflict, for that matter – is our core belief that every civilian life is equally valuable. A civilian is a civilian is a civilian – no matter his or her nationality, ethnicity, age, gender, faith.

Our analysis does not answer what actually did cause the blast or who was responsible, but it does undercut one of the most-publicized pieces of evidence used by both American and Israeli officials.

Three days before the blast, a 155mm illumination shell, commonly used by the Israeli military and not in use by Palestinian militias, was fired into the Al-Ahli Hospital. Hospital administrators said that they had received warnings from the IDF telling them to evacuate.

There's no free speech in the West for anyone who believes that Palestinians are human.
I have been informed that I am being replaced as the Editor in Chief of @eLife for retweeting a @TheOnion piece that calls out indifference to the lives of Palestinian civilians.

Apartheid, genocide, ethnic cleansing, mass murder of civilians... The overarching, heartbreaking through-line is this Jewish State, in fewer than 100 years, now shares so much in common with the beastly and indefensible fascist State from which it fled.

It’s a hoodless Klan rally. I can’t get over how creepy that scene is. The hive minded crowd of white identity politicians makes perfect Halloween nightmare material.

"Civilian deaths would have no impact on our decision." These are the things people say when they abandon their humanity and righteously take their place beside the most evil villains of world history.
If Mexicans voted for ISIS as their next president, and then snuck across the border & murdered 46,000 Americans in one day, no one serious in the US would be calling for a ceasefire. We would destroy their govt, and Mexican civilian deaths would have no impact on our decision.

Hamas committed war crimes. Israel is committing them in greater frequency and scale. If you have the moral clarity to believe war crimes are bad, you'll be accused of not being sufficiently pro-Israel.

If you really, really hate civilians indiscriminately bombed, are horrified by thousands of babies dismembered or left motherless, you'll be accused of being antisemitic.

But Hamas’s attack did NOT take place in a vacuum. We have to be able to discuss the context of endless occupation, repression, and apartheid without suggesting that such Israeli abuse excuses Hamas’s unjustifiable atrocities. Civilians should never be targeted.
BREAKING: Israeli foreign minister cancels his meeting with the UN secretary general planned for later today in New York in protest of Guterres' claim that Hamas' October 7th attack "didn't take place in a vacuum"

Why don't Palestinians embrace non-violent resistence? You've probably heard this question asked a lot over the past 2 weeks. A short response. A🧵.

Regular reminder that The Spectator Index is just some guy with a Twitter account, and Walter Bloomberg — even though he tweets like a wire service — isn't Bloomberg, he's just some guy named Walter Bloomberg.

5/ The lives of Jewish Israelis and Palestinian Arabs are of equal worth. Their rights and dignity are too. Neither Hamas's actions or history, Israel's response to them, the treatment of Gazans for years, or the laws of Israel itself act as if that is true. That's the problem.

4/ The point being, to claim Hamas's actions were unprovoked is historically nonsensical. Two things can be true at once: an action can be morally and strategically awful, and yet stem from other actions that were also morally and strategically awful...

Taking children as hostages, if confirmed, is barbarism, plain and simple, and does nothing to advance the cause of peace, resistance, or ending the occupation. The response to the ongoing suffering and killing of Palestinian children is not to make Israeli children suffer.
