Dit zet aan het denken.
Vrije meningsuiting en het aanpakken van laster, smaad of illegale berichten zijn natuurlijk twee verschillende dingen.
Over het beleid van X zijn de meningen verdeeld.
Maar er is één vraag bij het ideaal dat Elon nastreeft: een "plek voor vrije discussie".
Hoe ver kun je meningen accepteren die anders zijn dan de jouwe.
Het is makkelijk om alleen de meningen te verwelkomen die jou goed uitkomen.
Maar het echt moeilijke is om je te confronteren met meningen die je onprettig vindt.
Ik denk dat dit niet alleen voor SNS geldt, maar ook voor het runnen van organisaties.

AIPAC just posted a victory lap celebrating that members-backed candidates from BOTH parties won more than 234 races last night. They specifically congratulated Schumer and Jeffries on the “resounding victories for their caucuses.”
This is what “OUR DEMOCRACY” actually looks like now. A FOREIGN LOBBY openly bragging that it funds the winners on the left and the right, then posts the receipt so everyone can see it. The two parties take turns looking different so voters never notice they’re both cashing the SAME CHECKS. It’s the same arrangement every cycle: create the problem, sell the solution, and keep the money flowing.
They can post this without fear because the system is already CAPTURED. Most people will spend the next two years arguing about the puppet show while the same interests keep writing the script. America First was always a threat to that arrangement. That’s why both sides worked so hard to bury it.
It’s not left vs. right.
It’s US VERSUS THEM. And “them” just sent out the thank-you notes.

Now they think they should have the authority to decide whether your PRAYERS are criminal?
Since when does the government get to police what people believe, think, or pray? This is an outrageous abuse of power and a deeply disturbing overreach.
Freedom of religion and freedom of expression are fundamental rights, not privileges handed out at the discretion of politicians.

Peer reviewed paper: fossiele brandstoffen hebben effectief NIET bijgedragen aan het verhogen van het CO2-gehalte.
Wees overigens blij dat er iets meer CO2 in de lucht zit dan een eeuwtje geleden. We zaten verduveld dicht bij het niveau dat er geen leven op aarde meer mogelijk zou zijn.

Zo'n statement moet toch eigenlijk reden voor ontslag op staande voet zijn. Pratend over twee vrouwen die werden vermoord door Afrikaanse immigranten schuift ze de schuld in de schoenen van mannen die fout zouden zijn 'op de werkvloer, in het uitgaansleven en achter de voordeur'. Veralgemenisering van wat er gebeurd is ('Geweld tegen vrouwen is endemisch') in uitgerekend deze immens trieste zaken is een weerzinwekkende truc om weg te blijven van het vraagstuk dat voor (Groen)links onbespreekbaar is. Liever alle mannen verdacht maken dat het echte probleem benoemen.

Ik ben dit eigenlijk redelijk strontzat. Die paniekzaaierij is niet alleen totaal onwetenschappelijk, maar ook schadelijk. Ze leidt tot verlamming, defaitisme, psychische problemen en jongeren die besluiten geen kinderen meer te krijgen.
Ik heb lang geprobeerd het grootste respect op te brengen voor klimaatwetenschappers, maar het wordt tijd dat we oog krijgen voor deze paradox: vakspecialisten zijn vaak niet de beste raadgevers zijn als het gaat om de gevaren binnen hun eigen vakgebied. En al zeker niet als het gaat om beleid om die gevaren aan te pakken.
Dat geldt ook voor AI, waar zelfs de grondleggers inmiddels roekeloos speculeren over p(doom) en de uitroeiing van de mensheid.
Waarom? Als je je jarenlang specialiseert in één domein, kun je je zo blindstaren op je eigen tegel van de werkelijkheid dat al het andere bijzaak lijkt. Het klimaat — of AI — wordt dan dé existentiële bedreiging voor de mensheid, waarvoor al de rest moet wijken.
Zelfselectie speelt ook een rol: de reden waarom je je juist in dat domein specialiseert is misschien wel je denkt dat de toekomst van de mensheid ervan afhangt. Wie gelooft dat het allemaal wel meevalt of dat het gevaar elders ligt, zal geen carrière als klimaatwetenschapper ambiëren.
En (het spijt me) er zit ook een zeker narcisme in die doempraatjes: de gedachte dat de toekomst van de hele wereld afhangt van jouw kennisdomein.

Then he asked her about Santa Claus, and it was over.

Most 4-year-olds can’t even tie their shoes. We don’t let them cross the street alone, pick their bedtime, or choose what’s for dinner. But she thinks they’re mature enough to decide they’re “in the wrong body.”
The most terrifying part about this lady is that she’s also an Assistant Dean of Admissions at Brown University.
She’s not just affirming fantasy as reality in her own practice. She’s helping hand-pick the next generation of doctors — ones who think just like her.
