Shin Min-a owns the role. She is completely credible as an empress who has guided an emperor through the difficult times and is still doing so behind the scenes. She has such poise, grace and gravitas.
Honestly, ever since the cast was announced, people have been questioning why #ShinMinAh was chosen to play Empress Navier instead of someone else.
But Navier is firm without being antagonistic. She has a gentle, warm, almost motherly face, and I personally think #ShinMinAh fits her perfectly. She gives off that strong yet soft aura that makes you want to protect her.
The writer and director understand their characters far better than we do, so let’s give the casting a chance instead of constantly comparing!
