Missouri City, TX📍 | Boys Varsity District Battle Fort Bend Hightower Hurricanes 56 — Elkins Knights 48 Watch here: youtu.be/eUkpRtxl5Ho @ElkinsHoops | @HHS_Boys_Bball This felt like playoff basketball early. Both teams were disciplined, attacking downhill, and defending without hesitation. Elkins matched Hightower possession for possession through the first half, working inside and contesting every shot. In the second half, Hightower took the game over by generating momentum on both ends — making timely buckets, locking down transition opportunities, and staying locked in when the game tightened. That added composure separated them in the final minutes. Hightower Hurricanes Standouts ⬇️ Landon Shotlow — 19 points @LShotlow The go-to playmaker all night. Shotlow created his own offense inside and wasn’t afraid to initiate contact, score through traffic, or secure key buckets when the momentum swung. As a versatile senior forward with a well-rounded skill set (14.4 PPG and 5.5 RPG on the season), he fuels Hightower’s attack with size and power in the paint. His physicality and aggression in the second half helped tilt the game and kept the Hurricanes ahead. Jacari Irvin — @2turntCari4 High-energy guard who attacked the rim and made Hightower’s offense more dynamic. Irvin’s ability to push the pace and finish through contact gave Hightower consistent looks in transition and kept defenses honest. Devin King — @devin_king0 Another relentless attacker, King attacked the basket with aggression, pressured closeouts, and helped Hightower sustain offensive rhythm. His activity in tight spaces made it difficult for Elkins to settle defensively. Elkins Knights Standouts ⬇️ Myles Allen — @MylesAllen0 The Knights’ go-to option. Allen competed with size, strength, and determination, consistently attacking the rim and creating scoring chances. His ability to draw contact and score inside helped Elkins stay within reach throughout. Joseph Ekpo — @joehoops_g Active presence inside the paint. Ekpo battled for position, secured boards, and altered shots defensively. His physical play on the interior gave Elkins key momentum swings and helped fuel offense off second chances. Final Takeaway 🔍 A tight district battle that came down to second-half execution and defensive discipline. Hightower’s late-game control and Shotlow’s interior dominance were decisive, while Elkins’ toughness and inside play kept this competitive to the end. District games like this set the tone for the stretch run. @RcsSports @AnalyticalCoach @BallSoHardSS @djones8301 @GDayHoopScout @GHAHoops @hoopinsider @RobCInTheGym @easy_corner1 @rubeharris @HTownHSS @ihss_houston @vypehouston @FBISDAthletics
