LUA GROUP SPOTLIGHT: VANCOUVER 💛💙
Our supporter group spotlight series heads north to Vancouver, Canada! This week, we’re getting to know Vancouver Leeds United and the story behind their growing community of Leeds United fans. Here's @LUFCVancouver's story:
Founded in 2018 at Carlos O’Brien’s, our story began when Dan Tanner passed Leeds fans’ contact details to Mick Plunkett, who started reaching out across social media and bringing supporters together across Vancouver.
One of the first to join was David Utting, now a founding member who supplies our merchandise and has played a massive part in our growth.
After COVID, Mick approached The Shamrock to give us a new home. With the bar lacking the equipment for multiple screens, Mick wired the place and supplied the equipment himself. The rest is history! 🍻⚽
Over the years, we’ve grown into a great community of Leeds supporters, welcomed fans visiting Vancouver and built strong connections with Leeds United Seattle and Leeds PDX. After meet-ups in Seattle and Portland, the next Cascadia gathering is planned for Vancouver in early 2027!
A huge thank you to Chris & Bo for welcoming us into Leeds United Americas, Mike Bellwood for his advice, Alton Harewood of Leeds United Canada for our first badge, and Mark Cooper and Ben GreenGrass for helping establish our Vancouver identity.
Eight years on, we’re still marching together!

LUA GROUP SPOTLIGHT: CHICAGO 💙💛
Chicago seems a fitting place to kick off our group spotlights. LUA’s roots go back to 1992, when Mike Bellwood founded the Chicago branch of the Leeds United Supporters’ Club, bringing local Leeds fans together. It joined with the New York branch the following year, starting the wider supporters network that became Leeds United Americas.
As for today's group, here's how the @ChicagoWhites tell it:
Our story starts in 2016, with Tony Critchell convincing people to get out of bed early and come watch Leeds with him at the pub. That was at The Ambassador in Greektown. Paul O’Reilly, the owner and a lifelong Leeds fan himself, opened up for us, and Tony and Andrew Burton were among the first regulars showing up for every match.
Getting the match on wasn’t always straightforward. Back then, some mornings meant folks huddling around a phone, but at least we had a picture, fresh Guinness, and good company.
